It's a good starter mod, for sure. When Chevy came out with the LT1, they were thinking of the enthusiast that wanted a V8 but at a more reasonable starting price and/or to build up from there, either with Chevy options or their own. To me, that is a great idea because, there are some that buy 1LE and still upgrade the brakes and suspension, which is basically what the LT1 is. So now you can buy the LT1 and mod it the way you want to.

Currently running 315-30r20’s on my lt1 in the rear with a 20x11 wheel and 285/30r20’s in the front on a 20x9.5

How did you get those rims to fit without rubbing the brake line? When I bought my used 2010 SS it had the wide ass Zl1 wheels and it rubbed my emergency brake line. I ended up having to have the line cut until I can afford new wheels

I got 4.3 just the other day. All stock tires with traction control and some spin with no launch. Definitely think there’s room for improvement in the 0-60. Maybe 4 seconds flat

Does sport mode really stiffness up the suspension because I always drive my LT1 on sport mode, and I don’t know the difference lmao

Slightly. It’s not as drastic as like the magnetic ride. It’s mostly felt with the steering wheel stiffening. But yeah for me ride quality was different.

would 285 square be a worthwhile upgrade? what about keeping the 245 but ditching the run flats?

always go 305+ in the rear and you need to buy bigger rims as well bc stock rims can’t have anything bigger than 245s

I think upgrading to 305 is ideal and you really wont need to upgrade a rim size (unless it's the stock rims). I think 285's all around is better but I'd do something like 285's front and 305's rear.

I think the stock tires are 20x8.5 so the widest you could go is like 285's not 305's

Owner here In the front i have 285 30 20 Continetal extremecontact sport 2 In the rear 305 30 20 Continental extremecontact sport 1 If you go with a 305 35 vs a 305 30 it can rub and youll have to do a harness relocation

@@MichaelBello33 Good to know. Thank you for this. I am either gonna buy a 2SS, or the 3LT cuz of the Safety and Security features that are the same on both trims. I am assuming that I can put the 275s and 305s on the V6, as well. Would u agree?

@@daniellaughlin5872 its all the same chassis, so any rim and wheel combo that fits on a v8 will fit on a v6 When purchasing rims just make sure you get a correct offset, the offset determines how far or in the wheel is to the fender I went with 20x10 with an offset of +20 in the front and 20x11 with a offset of +43, the same as the ss 1le The fonts barley poke out past the fender but it has an aggressive look The more conservative offset will be a +23 with that it will be a more flush look with the wheel right at the fender

@@MichaelBello33 thanks. I'm definitely going for the aggressive, sporty look. When u talk about purchasing rims, do u mean aftermarket rims? I was thinking about using the rims that are already built on the car by Chevy.

@@daniellaughlin5872 aww yes i was referring to aftermarket rims, not sure what size wheels the 3lt comes with but the wheel width does impact how wide your tires can go For example my lt1 came with 8.5 all the way around, i wouldnt go past 275 on that rim and more comfortably a 255 I know the base ss comes with 8.5 in the front and 9.5 in the rear the max size i would go is a 295 The wider the tires on a smaller rim the more flex and slop you will have. A smaller tire on a correct rim will turn better than wider tire on a smaller rim

If you speed shift without the clutch you'll get a much harder hit. The transmission will take it.

No. The LT1 Camaro is the lowest trim of the V8 lineup...but its also the lightest. 🙂

The LT1 is the entry level V8 experience it's basically a V8 in a v6 shell with the exception of like upgraded brakes... It's the lowest trim BUT it's definitely a worthwhile bargain.
