it’s funny how it tends to always be innocuous community members. coaches, pastors, relatives.. totally normal people, because that’s how they move in the shadows, where they’ve put themselves intentionally. predators blend in, rather than sport bright colors etc that indicate that they’re a threat and to stay away. i don’t think we should blindly distrust people who seem normal in our communities, but i don’t believe we should blindly trust them either. a bit more scrutiny is needed. more encouragement to share their pain as well as the tools needed to share their pain is needed for children. have seen it hundreds and hundreds of times from cops, pastors, coaches etc as i said above; family men, community pillars. or sometimes pillar women, innocuous and very desirably “normal” on the outside as far as blending in w society, as we’ve seen with cases actually being reported more often than they used to w female teachers sexually exploiting their pupils. strangely, i don’t really hear about this so often if at all from like.. drag queens? 🤔 so weird… could it be that we’re trying to protect the institutions that keep children vulnerable to “upstanding” predators who already know their generational pipelines to prey?

Private lessons should never mean a coach and child alone. Any coach asking for that is a red flag. Professionalism is more important than “rapport”. There is just something about people who have these intricate explanations that makes me think they are trying to talk you into liking them. Acting like nothing out of the ordinary is going on makes it even worse. You don't tickle someone elses 5 year old when the parents aren't around.

I was a gymnast from 5- 13 and was never once tickled. If we weren’t tight or postured, they gently tap us with a yardstick or used it to help us stand as straight as the user. Bs

While I understand both men and women are capable of this.. and unfortunately things have gotten worse when it comes to children being abused. I say female coaches only for girls and men for boys. All kids should be told what is ok and what is not. So it's stopped the first time it happens. Also parents should not be leaving their children in the hands of strangers!!!! That would prevent anything from happening!
