Imagine you are singing. You raise a - stop singing signal by yourself - it's a software interrupt. Someone from Audience , at any time can shout and stop you - is a hardware interrupt received via your ear. Software interrupt is generated by program itself. It is written in code.

When such interrupt occurres, program will go to a fixed location related to that interrupt. For example 5 different interrupts have five different addresses. Such interrupt is called vectored.

Interrupt is like subroutine only. Only difference is it's written and stored at some fixed address. And it is called automatically when there is a signal on hardware pin designed for interrupt only.. Based on which Hardware pin interrupt has come, program will move to that address where ISR - interrupt subroutine is written.
