He is very good looking. I don’t think he looks female at all. So sad his parents decided to give him surgery so young. There’s no reason for it. People really do need to talk about intersex more. The more people are aware that not everyone was born as a definite boy or girl, the more people will except this situation. Unfortunately it’s so hush hush when someone intersex is born, it makes people feel like it’s a “bad” thing. I understand this man being upset with the surgeon, but I also don’t think it’s totally proper to blame the surgeon. The surgeon did at the time what the surgeon felt was best for the child. Also, the surgeon wouldn’t be able to do the operation without his parents consent. It makes me so sad that him and his brother were teased so bad as a child. It’s absolutely cruel. I actually raised my child to stick up for kids that get teased. My son got into three different physical fights in grade school, and all of them were because he was sticking up for someone being bullied. I don’t condone violence whatsoever but I’m secretly proud my son is the way he is.

Little boys and girls were brought up on different models. The girl was taught to be a "young lady." Her toys were most often limited to dolls, doll houses, furniture, and tableware. The boy was considered sissy if he showed interest in these toys. He was given pistols and cowboy things. A girl was considered a kid if she ran too fast or screamed loudly. Thousands of hidden and open factors molded stereotypes of “femininity” from a woman, and “masculinity” from a boy. Since in reality neither girls nor boys are either feminine or courageous, but only people, this separation often caused stress in many. This cultural zombie did not allow men and women to share the depth of their feelings. As for as scientist, He is a very interesting example.

They are fortunate to be living in a generous country like Germany, a prosperous region like Stuttgart. Others in similar circumstances but lacking economic resources, perhaps thousands in the country, hundreds of thousands in the EU, are not as fortunate, and suffer in silence, and/or as Christian said, "wanted to jump off a bridge." It’s not too surprising someone XY feels like a man. It sucks that docs can’t accept unusual bodies and just operate with no consent. Let them decide for themselves if they even want to alter their body let alone how.

The parents of these children are not to be blamed; they did at the time what they thought was best for their child. It is the "educating" the society about intersex people that is necessary; that there is nothing wrong with who they are. And, that one should leave these children just as they are; for they are just as perfect the way they are as anyone else. Educating the doctors, parents and society is the answer... I have so much respect for this young man and his family. I learn so much from your story about life and myself; how to live with challenges that face us. Some challenges are blessing in disguise; some are small and some much bigger; but, hopefully just enough that we can handle them. Hope we all find our true purpose in life and accept that our challenges may and in fact can, help us find our purpose.

I feel sorry for him. Everyone decided for him. But he was never given the chance to decide for himself. And he cant even reverse the process. I wish you will find peace amidst of these all.

It’s so sad how both the parents keep trying to dodge accountability for their decision. Christian is expected to understand their feelings but his parents down play him while he’s trying to express his.🤦🏽♀️ Like many, Christian’s parents seem a bit ignorant and unfortunately, they trusted the advice because it came from someone whom was known to be a medical professional. Shame on the👩⚕️ for making such a radical and wrong suggestion!!!🤨

If he was born with somewhat blurred female genitalia, you cannkt blame the doctors for getting confused, but he should now live life as he wishes.

IDK guys. Blaming the one doctor is okay. But saying all medical professionals are bad and unruly is a bit of an over sympathetic.

Did he go through high school as a girl or a boy? Does he have the means to sue the hospital & the doctor for physical & psychological damages? His parents should hock everything to support his suit. He'll discover how "sorry" these dumbbells are, especially, for "allowing him" to have his testicles removed when he was 14, which was perhaps, even an act of depraved indifference on their part. Should the parents be held accountable for child abuse? That Christian doesn't hold any resentment toward them is fantastic & unbelievable. These young hermaphrodites should be given time to develop into the gender that suits them before any surgical finality takes place, imo.

That was pretty much the standard protocol back then. It’s not just that doctor. There has been horrific shit done just because folks didn’t know better.

Chromosomal variation means his body was not able to normally develop the male sex. We don't know how he was born: did he have a scrotum or not? If he didn't the highly skilled reconstructive surgery may try to create one. But as he was very self-confident when going to confront his doctor we may presume that he had all his external organs at his birth. A male must be born with a scrotum he can't develop one after his birth. If they were removed surgically this was a professional error from my point of view. We must be aware that the parents are in a state of shock when hearing that the child is ill, abnormal, and they don't have sufficient medical information. His testicles were surely not descended in the scrotum. The medicine may try to descend them in their natural place. And it may fail. In my opinion the only fault of his parents was that they didn't fight enough to keep his sexuality. But he had very little chances. It doesn't mean that we must change artificially and socially the gender by force. If the medicine couldn't succeed to descend his testicles in the scrotum they would surely generate a cancer. Dysfunctional and not functioning gonads are a main source of cancer. He could be in the situation of choosing between life and death for keeping a non-functional sexual identity.

Christian is incredibly brave to open up his life and share his battle of identity and acceptance. I cannot even imagine the search for answers to his most personal questions and most importantly"why" were these decisions made. I am hoping progress has been made with newborns that are intersex. I hope, and wish, Christian is well.

It is a big violation in that doctors make decisions, sometimes without parents realizing the impact - or even knowing about it. I have empathy for kids with ambiguous gender characteristics who get assigned a gender that then as they grow up turned out to wrong. If there is no medical reason to do a so life impacting invasive surgery then they should wait.

Hello Christian: I am very sorry to hear your story. In my opinion, the doctor who made the diagnosis of your issue has been fully responsible for your suffering. In your story, you were born with some issues. at the timestamp of this video at 4:25, your parents were curious about your gender. They asked the doctor to find out, which is very normal action from any parents, in the said situation. The doctor ordered some investigations. At the timestamp of this video at 5:30, the doctor miss diagnosed that you were a girl, which was the wrong action by the doctor. At the time, your parents signed the consent, they were misinformed by the doctor. In my opinion, the doctor made an error in her diagnosis; therefore, she should be held fully responsible. As a result of her direct action of that doctor, your life has never been normal. You cannot be a normal man. You cannot be married to a woman and have children like any normal person. You have been suffering and will be suffering form her action. You should be seeking help from an attorney, who should be specialized in Medical Malpractice cases and file a lawsuit against that doctor. Trust me, the doctor's insurance company will settle this matter with you and they might drop that doctor. This will make that doctor to realize what she did and she will be very careful in the future. I understand that you are not seeking financial benefits, but what happened to you in the past, you did not have any control over it and you also do not have control in future. These days, money is attached to almost everything. If you get a very good financial settlement from the doctor's insurance company, I am sure, somehow, it will comfort your future life. Good luck and God bless you.

Two things I don't understand: 1) He didn't have a penis or a scrotum at birth, so why is he mad at the doctors? If I got it right, the doctors just reconstructed the opening of a vulva on him. He wanted himself the internal testicles removed at 14, but instead he could have decided to close the vulva and attach a penis. Why is he blaming the doctors now? 2) If he had the testicles revomed at 14, does he take testosterone shots to appear this masculine?
@katharina...5 жыл бұрын
He had what medics call "ambiguous genitalia". It's hard to say what his genitalia looked like, or how functional it was (or could have become post puberty), but when he was a baby it wasn't identifiable as male or female. Why is he mad at the doctors? I've seen a few videos made by intersex people, and the common anger most of them share is due to their decision to remove whatever tissue they were born with. Why? Because even though it was misshapen and not identifiable as a penis, scrotum, clitoris, labia, etc, it was their sexual organ, and by removing it, the doctors took away their ability to experience sexual satisfaction and pleasure. He is further blaming the doctors for instructing his parents to bring him up as a girl, which lead to them not telling him that he was intersex. My understanding is that he made the decision to remove his testicles without the full knowledge of his condition, which is just messed up! He thought he was a girl with testicles, and based on this, he removed his testicles.

@@katharina... My feeling is that he would have been discontent even if they hadn't had any surgery and he was brought up as a boy. I understand it was hard for a "girl" to show male hair, male muscles and a male voice. But it would have been also hard for a "boy" to lack any external genitalia...

Seriously?? I just can't understand. This is not so long ago, and xy is known as male already. Yes there is abnormality in the genitals but common sense tells that genitals should coinside with the chromosomes. We can not cheat natures, can we? Young man, you are strong and i believe that the best is yet to come.
