You don't want to be any where near this freeway between 3 and 7 pm between San Diego and Sun City Monday through Friday because it is a painful parking lot!! It can take 3 hours to go from Escondido to Temecula which is only less than 30 miles away! I could get there faster on a horse walking backwards in high heels.

Without traffic, this is actual speed...lane changes and all. LOL! 11:20 mark is where the fun begins, and we ain't even in the Temecula/Murrieta area and the 15/215 exchange yet. However, you're video shows that exchange pretty light traffic that day. Must have been what is called "Friday light" traffic. Wait for 15/91exchange in Corona...Bwahahahaha! Spent my entire life in SoCal before retiring and moving to another state last week. 26 years in Orange County, 29 years in Corona, nearly 1 year in San Diego (Lemon Grove area) by SDSU, and the last 10 years in Escondido (7:40 mark on video). BTW, those aren't the "Elsinore mountains", they're called the Santa Ana mountains (as stated later in your video) and what you're seeing is the east side of the range. The highest point on the range is called Saddleback Mountain due to the two points shaping a horse saddle. I would recommend staying off Highway 74, aka Ortega Hwy, it goes from Elsinore thru the S.A. Mountains to San Juan Capistrano in South Orange County. The 74 is a death trap.

WOW you were WAY down in SD! You were South of the 8, thats almost to the Mexican border. I didn't see where you entered the freeway at. What type vehicle camera are you using? Im looking for a dashcam for my f150, she's a smooth operator but i want the clarity. Thanks for the video! Never fails theres always some jackWagon driving ✌️"the speed limit" ✌️in the fast lane or ,worse yet, HOV. 9 time's out of 10, if they're driving real slow then as soon as you roll up on them they speed off...... They were texting.

Thanks for the comment. This video was purposed filmed with a Sony AX-33, which is a great camera for purpose filming a drive, such as this, but a poor choice as a dash cam. I don't have a dash camera recommendation unfortunately.

This video is excellent for the time of the day. But if you are on the north bound lanes from 76 to the 215 any time after 2:00 PM, it is a very slow go with a áreme speed moving at 25 mph.

Interstate 5 would be less congested had interstate 405 continued south of the i-5/405 interchange in Irvine to San Diego. Interstate 405 would of of traveled directly through pacific hills before intersecting Oso parkway in Mission Viejo. Where would interstate 405 cross through Camp Pendleton since interstate 5 already passes near the Pacific Ocean. Why do the signs on interstate 405 read San Diego if this freeway doesn’t even reach San Diego?

Your drive mostly parallels former US 395. Great drive though. I-15 starts at an interchange with I-8 and CA-15 and ends 1 433.52 mi north at the Canadian border to Alberta via AB 4. Also, I think I-15 is the best border to border Interstate highway ever. Another is I-5.

I-15 replaces US 395 between SD and Hesperia and most of US 91 between San Bernardino and the Canadian border. Also, all of CA-163 replaces US 395 in SD as well and the entirety of I-215 CA have former US 395 throughout the Inland Empire.

Speeding on a straight highway with at least two lanes would be a lot safer if everyone would only use the left and/or middle lane/s for a few seconds to pass and then immediately go to the right. If we isolate accidents across the US and refer only to what happened on highways with at least two lanes, one third of those crashes that took place above the speed limit are most likely due to drivers being forced to swerve in and out of traffic because of someone chilling in the middle and left lanes and so they got in their blind spot right when they decided to switch lanes, speeding in a blind corner without being able to see stopped traffic, other drivers not knowing how to check their mirror and approximate how fast the car behind approaches them, hydroplaning due to improper road maintenance (potholes or uneven surfaces filled with water), uneven surfaces that will send the car flying thus causing an unpredictable understeer or oversteer character, other weather conditions (fog, snow, ice, etc.) and last but not least, no experience in driving a car at its limits and knowing how to react to oversteering, understeering, transfer of masses, pendulum effect and many others (just saying that someone has experience driving millions of miles in a city or on a highway by being able to stop at a light or turn on a signal to switch lanes is not enough, that does not require any skills or intelligence at all, it’s just useless overconfidence). You need to understand how a car handles at its limit and we all know the public roads are not the way to test those limits (race on tracks) but something is wrong and it constitutes a major factor for many accidents in the US. I am not necessarily talking about the legal factors that insurance or police records show, but rather about the moral issues that play a major role as well. I would want to see state and federal legislators pushing highway patrols and state troopers to enforce this lane discipline with zero tolerance, that is the only way to solve this hogging crisis in the US. And also, getting rid of wrong mentalities “if I drive the speed limit, why do I have to move over to the right?”, “why is he/she tailgating/honking/flashing me, he can pass me on the right”, “let me brake check him/her” or “let me slow him down to show him how it’s done”. Plus, an improper use of a highway with 3 or more lanes by hogging the middle lane/s would transform that road in a narrower highway resulting in holding up traffic and an increased risk of accidents as there will be drivers passing on the right or swerving in and out. And as a voluntary supplement, it would also help if more people enroll in practical defensive and racing/rally lessons to understand how to react when a car reaches or exceeds its limits so that they won’t panic next time. If this lane discipline works in Germany or anywhere in Europe, then it can also work in the US, it just needs to be applied.

Alternativ Title: 2020/03/06 - Interstate 15 Nᴏʀᴛʜ Final - San Diego to Corona Virus (Riverside)
@BrandonClaridge
@BrandonClaridge 3 жыл бұрын
That reminds me: I do remember the creator, in the comments section of another video from this trip, saying that this was the last pre-pandemic normal weekend in North America before the lockdowns and border closures hit. Corona means "crown" in Spanish, by the way. Despite the now-negative association of the word with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, I haven't heard about any businesses (or municipalities) containing the name "Corona" trying to change their names over it. There was a time when there were businesses containing the name "Isis" (named after the Egyptian goddess) that changed their names due to the association of that name with the ISIL terrorist group (among others, I do remember that Isis Wallet became Softcard); given the relative severity of the pandemic, I initially expected something similar would happen with stuff named "Corona" as well, considering the so many people casually call the virus "corona" for short, but it hasn't. I suspect this association would impact Spanish speakers less, given the usual meaning of the word "corona" in Spanish.

I remember reading the news for the first time while sitting in McCarran Airport in Las Vegas, and Italy had just closed it's borders. It was pretty surreal to be getting on a plane that night. There were still no measures about Covid at all when I landed in Toronto that morning.
