Ahhhh. this brought tears to my eyes. I just drove this at the end of May with my granddaughter (I'm 71, and was traveling back to Boston area to visit family for a while, driving from Fallon NV to Boston, MA). I sooooooooo miss the beauty of the desert, the solitude and grace with which it speaks to the soul. It "looks" empty, but is sooo filled with life.... from coyotes, to pronghorn, mountain lions, great horned lizards, rock-hounding desert dwellers, and mountain towns. If you ever get off the highway, be sure to check out the Ruby Mountains south of Elko....often called "the Grand Canyon of Nevada". It is a gem also.

I love that someone else appreciates the beauty of Nevada across 80. I've travelled this highway dozens of times going from the SF Bay Area to Ohio and it's by far the most enjoyable! Loved your video!

My wife and I traveled this way while on our honeymoon coming from Yosemite, enrouteto Yellowstone. By the time we got to this area it was dark so we missed all of this. Thanks to you I now get to see this area in the daytime

Another good one, Kyle. Nice shoutout to NDOT for those wildlife crossings: Caltrans is building one on 101 in Calabasas, and they have plans for some on I-15 as well. From Reno east, though....That's the kind of drive where you need a chatty co-driver or navigator, a decent playlist for your car's stereo system, and a very good cell phone (just in case...)

I still recall the first time that I crossed Nevada on this route. It was the mid 70's, and I-80 was still under construction. The freeway had been completed only as far as Pequop Summit. Looking east from there, I could see old 2-lane U.S. 40 extending to the horizon. To the left of 40, construction of the westbound lanes of I-80 also extended to the horizon. Countless bulldozers graded the new stretch, as trucks came and went, like trails of ants. Once over Silverzone Pass, only 2-lane 40 remained----as it again extended to the horizon. The highway wound through the town of Wendover, before again becoming freeway.

Another great video Kyle! One thing that’s not talked about is the effort you put in to recreate the various road signs as you pass them - the font and color are spot-on - really admirable attention to detail!

Thank you Kyle! Was nice to see this stretch of Interstate 80 again as it brought back memories of when I drove semi over the road. Some of the scenery reminds me of driving across Wyoming on I-80 as well! Quite deserty in areas! Watching this reminded me to go watch your video of driving though Jackpot Nevada! Appreciate you sharing this with us Kyle! Hope your summer has been good for you all! It’s been HOT in Iowa the past few weeks! Finally cooled off today into the 70’s from the 90’s! Mark in Iowa.

Thank you very much Mark. There’s a number of similarities between Nevada and western Wyoming along I-80 that’s for sure. The tunnels come to mind!

Really nice video Kyle. I absolutely love driving in the desert when there is building heavy weather off in the distance like you captured here. It just adds another element to the scenic majesty of the landscape.

Crazy how I was 5 years old watching your old I-80 videos and now it’s been 11 years and you’re back again

I’ll probably be doing longer drives a lot soon too because my mom doesn’t drive on highways and my dad usually doesn’t have the time to drive us to certain places

At 12:05, it makes you wonder what the pioneers must have felt like after they crossed the Salt Lake desert. They probably turned around at the summit & looked back, and thought "Did we just cross that?". The only great thing about the 80 going through Nevada east of Reno is that there's hardly any traffic.

I think NEVADA is the only state to use 8” wide paint stripes on the INTERSTATE which looks really cool and greatly adds to visibility, I love I-80 NEVADA‼️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇳🇿

Beautiful scenery, no traffic, endless skies... what else would anyone need? I'd recommend a good coating of RainX to keep the bugs and other road grime off the windshield.

Whoa, you been everywhere in the American Southwest these past few months. Too bad you couldn't get any more useful footage of I-80 in NV. I know you already done a number of video of the Interstate in the Silver State. But I know you wanna re-do em with copyright free music. But it looks like it'll be a while before we see new videos of I-80 in NV.

You’re telling me! Lots of footage coming up! I would love to redo I-80 across Nevada in 4K and copyright free. Just need to get better filming conditions compared to when I passed through here in May.
