When the truck is off and it’s been off for a few hours all the oil will be down in the oil pan. Starting the truck and not setting your idle to about 1200 rpms to heat the oil and to distribute the oil to those necessary parts that require constant lubrication while your right foot is on the throttle pedal you will start to have excessive ware on the rod main and the pistons. Driving on a cold start is not what you want to get in a habit of doing. Doing that in cold weather conditions is even worse. Another thing cold coolant. Your coolant needs to be warm before driving after the truck has been off for a while. It’s the difference of prolonging your engine and causing premature ware. There is nothing worse than needing an overhaul at premature mileage. Loss of oil pressure will force you to be towed.

When temps fall in the winter and the truck has been sitting 24 hours plus, it's best to let it warm up for at least 20-30 min, on or about 1000 rpm's. This will allow the oil to warm up, circulate properly, providing proper lubrication to major engine, drivetrain components it also gives the coolant time to at least warm up close to operating temps. Because diesel engines relying on heat and good compression to run effectively and efficiently warming a heavy truck is best before just driving off. It will save thousands of dollars in premature, major mechanical failures down the road. Not only will the truck will run better when it's warmed properly in cold temps. It will lessoning great chances of damage while driving off in cold temps. It would be smart to warm it before driving when it's cold. It may burn less than a gallon to warm in the winter, it's well worth it to be safe than sorry. If you have an idle timer built in your truck on the dash, it could be set to specific rpm's and times for that reason to idle for colder months or whatever application. I know most old school trucks have idler dials on the dash, some may not. It too depends on the spec, option build with the engine being mechanical or electronicly controlled by the computer box. Just passing on knowledge to prevent major failure in your journeys of trucking. Be safe bro in that concrete jungle👍

Salute and Respect ALWAYS FAM good to see the HUSTLER back in the HUSTLE of the grind game of trucking industry with INTERSTATE GANG standing on business with ten toes down with another great episode of content and video. Let's get ready for this pick up of freight and a ride along journey with a positive attitude and mindset of a professional at work. There's always something being done or said no matter how you try to stay focused and positive by being ahead in the grind game with these receivers and shippers.Glad you found that nail in your tire before hitting the highways and roads, good that it didn't puncture through. Good loading time, lets ride wheels turning and making them earnings. Like the different camera angles and views on this journey, YESSIR YES INDEEDY FAM get into the truck lane quickly don't need no tickets or pay out of unnecessary money. Get that cheap fuel when you can it makes a big difference. Baby carrying the mail nice and smooth, walking and talking, nice downtown city scenery getting all green. There's nothing like that family time when you can get it in. I don't think there's right or wrong way to heat up a truck ask you gave the 2 ways. Shout out to Brotha Greg and Mark the number one professional mechanics hard work and excellent workmanship. All that hustling you can't even grip over the airbags a year in you got the life of it. Feed the body and get back on the grind to get this freight delivered and get paid another one for the books. I check fluids first then start the truck. Let it run for 10-15 secs then set the rpms to 1000rpm and while that happens i do my pre trip. My pre trip usually takes 10-15min after that i go drive. I dont go hard on it till the coolant and oil temp gauge is above 170. Thats what i do for my truck.

You need to let the truck oil to get into some of your parts of your motor that needs lubricant if you don't then you will have major problems and by letting your truck idle will oil the parts that need to be oil before you start to drive your truck and by letting your truck idle will let your oil start to heat up and your antifreeze start to heat up before you start driving

The only way to warm up an engine is by redline straight out the gate and get to driving immediately.

If you thinking about getting a new peterbilt 389 or 579. I wouldn’t consider buying. Truck be having electrical issues & also need a software update so it will drive correctly. Rather than that it’s pretty much reliable.
