This model is a pain because it is three piece! You did an excellent job. I really enjoyed watching.

Lovely diorama. Just a bit of info. You mentioned the kit doesn't come with the TWA markings, think that was to avoid copyright issues. However, if you look at the name FASTWAY and take off the FAS at the beginning and the Y at the end you get...

Beautiful work! Just ran across this just now. I love that mid century sci fi look. ♥ I daydreamt of being an astronaut as a kid, reading a lot of sci fi books with pics like that.

I love the end result you came out with. That's an aesthetic I just love. The Raging Plastic Maniac's idea of a maintenance gantry for the engines is a good one for hiding the wires. Another might be to use the fuel truck. Make the wires look like they're fuel lines leading back to the truck. Dan

I have been watching through some of your vids, since I am rather new to your channel and I really like this dio...it has inspired me to try my hand at something similar. I found this kit on the cheap and am gonna give it a go. Thanks!

The rocket is a little awkward to put together but otherwise a fun kit to put together. Since my childhood, I've come across concept art of what a Mars base would look like "in the future" and had always wanted to try and create something based on those drawings/paintings. Have fun with it. Would love to see your completed project.

Absolutely brilliant! It all turned out very nicely! I love the sand and the rocks, the domes look great with their windows and their aerial lights! You've made a gorgeous job of the ship, which I know isn't the easiest thing to put together. Excellent video! You're a constant source of inspiration!

That looks superb. The only thing I would have added, would have been a few small bits of styrene, of various sizes, to represent a bit of junk material, left over from the dome construction, perhaps. Us humans are untidy beings.

Nice!! A thought on hiding the wires going into the rocket. Since this is a diorama, they could be hidden inside a refueling tube or hose, connected to the rocket. I've got a 50's era rocket kit, and may do something like this with it ... far more interesting than just a silver rocket ship.

as always an impressive build I love the 50's & 60's ideas of what the future space craft would look like such as the Glencoe mars liner and Glencoe lunar lander kits I have also built this kit I had trouble with the decals and had to adapt them.your finished diorama is fantastic wish I had as much skill good luck with the competition.

Hi, I’m working on a project with one of these. What are the dimensions of the rocket itself? Like body length and girth around the thickest part of the body? Thanks!
@InterstellarModeler4 жыл бұрын
the model measures 11.5" high, not really sure of the girth but I estimate 5"?? I keep forgetting to measure this when I get home at night. Hopefully this answer (regarding girth) will suffice. Thanks

Did you just use the white primer for the paint? Or did you add some gloss/enamel/acrylics?
@InterstellarModeler8 жыл бұрын
Testors flat white then sprayed a matte finish over it. The matte coating actually left more of a semi-gloss rather than flat finish which I was fine with. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
