@@JC-wm1uw yeah, Domas is Jaime Lannister, Daida is kind of the Joffrey of the situation, Hilling is a much less evil Cersei, and Boji is kind of like Bran Stark - weak and disabled but on his road to acquiring a great power. Also he somehow befriended the shadow assassin created by Melisandre.

Fun Fact: the manga for Ranking of Kings came out in 2017 and it has 11 volumes currently, but it never got an official English release and it was so obscure that it didn't even get fan translations for a long time. Obviously, now that the anime is out and it's much more popular now there are some translations out there. However, the translations that are out only cover up to chapter 32 which is the beginning of volume 3, and only up to this episode of the anime and a bit of the next one.

Do all the characters' names have hidden meanings? Some of them are pretty obvious, but I'm not sure about the others: Bosse = boss, Hiling = healing, Kage = shadow, Hokuro = mole. Bojji I believe is a combination of hitoribocchi (alone) and ji (児 - child). Bebin is close to hebi (snake). Apeas is an anagram for spear (it works in Japanese too). Desha = Death Faction? (デス派)? A bit of a stretch? I can't really come up with anything for Daida, Domas, Dorshe, etc. Anyone have ideas?

It's more likely that Bojji also borrows from the word Oji (prince) Dorshe is probably an anagram for Shield (only works in japanese) Couldn't think of anything regarding Domas. There is a Kanji for Daida that represents the probable meaning intended, considering what happens later... SPOILERS BELOW Daida means substitute, which would explain his body being possessed.

a couple of things I've seen, no idea if they are legit or not: Desha = same letters as "Hades" (king of the Underworld in Greek Mythology -- there's something else spoilery related to this that ties Desha to some Greek Mythology stuff, but I won't spoil it yet until their YT videos catch up to the episode where we learn about it) Domas might somehow be a play on Swordmaster (think pronounced in an exaggerated Japanese way, adding some syllables, like saying "swor-do-mas-ter" -> do-mas)

Man I read the story of the creator and honestly I wanna support the man, he was a 40 years old salaryman who quit his job to do manga and now have sold over a million copies I’m hoping they make the translation cus I was looking for volumes to buy in English but it seems that it only sells in Japan, I also read that he keeps the fact that he does manga a secret from his parents because they are very old school conservative and don’t see manga artist as a real job.

This manga actually start in 1997 but after being bullied out of the Manga industry Tooka Sousuke decided to quit his story and continue work, 2016 he finally decided to quit and continue this story, thankfully. They used to explain to him how he had no talent and should stop writing entirely, and his artstyle is geezer art from an old era. You can tell how toxic the Manga industry is from his autobiography.

His story clearly touches a nerve for people and his artstyle is endearing, especially for those of us old geezers who grew up in the 80's and 90's and get nostalgic feels from this art style. It's a refreshing change of pace from all the generic stuff we have nowadays. There are some new shows that people love that are generic and cookie cutter as can be. Glad to see a show that has a different kind of story and art style make some waves.

I didn't even start watching Ranking of Kings until I saw that there was a reaction to this series on the channel. I'm glad you like him too. A lot of people still haven't forgiven him, but I am a lot more sympathetic to him. If he refused Daida's order, he'd likely be killed himself, and at one point earlier in his life he probably swore an oath to serve the crown with unwavering devotion, so refusing an order from Daida (no matter how awful the order) would make him an oath-breaker of sorts, which for this time period, is probably worse than doing something awful like killing Bojji. He's genuinely torn up about it too, you can tell by the way he's almost convincing himself while eating at the inn that it's not his (or Hokuro's) place to question the orders they are given.

If it's good, then you can visit their Village but if its not, then you'll have to leave because you might have brought a bad luck with you. They'll also make you drink their native wine and coffee if the pig ritual is finished.
