@@Segwo Well, what many people may not know is that the ESC is actually a composer and lyricist competition and since Mr. Lordi wrote "Hard Rock Hallelujah", he technically won the contest on his own. Today, a band has won that wrote the winning song as a collective and therefore each member is a "true" winner.

In the past, the songwriters were even presented on stage, while nowadays only the credits are shown on the screen for a few seconds. You're not entirely wrong when you say it's a song contest, because what makes a song is the songwriter, the producer, the engineer and the singer/band, but at the end of the day, the writing is the essential part. I'm from Germany and I know that Lena gave her trophy to Julie Frost, the main songwriter of "Satellite".
