@@HackMusicTheory Sorry, not too helpful of me! The sort of problems I encounter are things like transposing one track and retaining harmonic relationship to other tracks, transition from one pattern to another in a different key or mode. I usually manage it through trial and error, but it would be good to know why some things work better than others. I try to play dawlessly, though I find your computer illustration super easy to follow. Thanks again, fellow tea drinkers....
@HackMusicTheory2 жыл бұрын
Yay tea! What kind do you drink? And what do you play and/or what kind of music do you make? Thanks for sharing some of the problems you're encountering, and for sure those things can be tricky! We don't have any KZbin videos that address those issues, as those go beyond the beginner level, but you'll find our hack for modulation (i.e. changing keys/modes) in our Songwriting & Producing PDF, which you can download here: HackMusicTheory.com/Bestsellers. This PDF also includes our mode hacks, which will be useful since you're using different modes. But, if you wanna totally master how to transition, then we recommend our Apprenticeship #1 online course, cos you'll learn everything you need to know in order to transition between sections in different keys/modes, as well as learning everything else you need to know in order write songs from start to finish. We really hope these resources help you on your musical journey, and thanks again for being here, you are truly valued :)

Hey thanks for your amazing work! Im currently watching apprenticeship #1 and i got a question for the intervals. You mentioned multiple times that we shouldnt use perfect fifth and fourth intervals cause they sound boring. But i checked some songs and i found multiple songs use those intervals. For example Radio by Lana Del Rey uses even both in the chorus when she sings "Now my life is sweet like cinnamon" and the melody is extremely catchy its one of my favourite songs of her. So is there any exception to the rule i missed ?

@@HackMusicTheory it's going well, so far. I'm currently idle when it comes to writing music. Most of the time I'll be playing some melodies or tunes on my Electronic Keyboard, then, when I find something I like, I create that melody in GarageBand, which is my go to software for creating music, with some others to spice it up (especially with percussion instruments). I've made 14 songs using this software, all of which are over 2 minutes long. I'll be honest, I created those songs before I checked out your Hack Music Theory channel, and one of my first songs had a major fault in that it was very repetitive. I got better over the years when it comes to writing music, so my newer songs aren't as repetitive. A lot of my songs are in the key of F# minor, and sometimes F# major.

@HackMusicTheory2 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrei, you're looking good :) G# to E is 8 semitones, so you've got a minor 6th interval. The fact that F is your root doesn't change what that interval is, but it obviously changes the context of that interval.
