Newman had an extraordinary run of high quality literate films during the 1960's that are unmatched by any american actor except Brando with Kazan in the 50's. I'm thinking of The Hustler, Hud, Sweet Bird Of Youth, Harper, Cool Hand Luke and Hombre.

Seen a couple posts saying he wasn't that great of an actor which is blatantly fallacious... Paul may not have been as transformative as a De Niro or Day Lewis but he was every bit the actor that guys like Jack Nicholson was, if not better

Exactly. He just strikes me as more of a down home guy opposed to the rest of the actors you mentioned. I mean, De Niro is pretty domesticated but it just seems like from jump- Newman never carried that star persona. He was just a regular guy.

He has a arrange as a human being and I like the way he intellectual life is and reflects on his life I believe he's a serious and yet lighthearted fun-loving man very unassuming and obviously attractive and I believe that his wife Joanne Woodward has similar attributes on her own even before I knew they were married and I'm so glad that these two wonderful people found each other and they're making it work hooray for my fellow man and hooray for fellow lady! We need class in Hollywood and to me there AR a couple who epitomize these personal attributes something to Aspire for if you want to grow your heart soul and personhood as a creative person and S a person per se

Yeah Paul was deffinately a bright man but he was married to an equally bright woman in Joanne but a woman doesn't get the credit for that as easily as a man does like even an old man can play a main lead character but a woman gets downgraded to maternal and teacherly roles though they {women} get stuck with those roles younger as in Clara in long hot summer was a school teacher and Joanne was only 27 when she played that part or Rachel in Rachel Rachel
