I'm glad we got a lot of confirmation this film's history, especially regarding its art direction and whether or not Jenny was going to be Penny from the first "Rescuers" (speaking of which, RIP Bob Newhart).

It`s great that you were able to get this inside information, Oliver & Company is such an underrated/overlooked classic and one of my favourites. I was 2 when it was released, so I grew up with it from the start.

I love how he pointed out how the goal there was to make it clear Fagin was trying to protect his dogs. I always thought it was more the other way around, but in hindsight, that's absolutely true! There's hints in some of the way characters are portrayed that the dogs don't quite know to what extent they are in danger. I mean, they have a general idea, but they're quite laid back despite the urgency of the situation and can be quite snarky to the Dobermans even if they are a little wary of them. The first time Fagin brings Dodger down to see Sykes and Fagin starts pitifully stuttering out his plan, Dodger looks up at him with genuine confusion. A part of me wonders if Fagin was putting on a bit of a brave face for them when they were alone, only fueling their confidence that they "wear the crown" in that city of gold. The one time that illusion shatters is when the Dobermans Dodger used to talk back to maul him alive. Dodger doesn't get his swagger back until after the villains are all dead atp. Makes me wonder.

Exactly like people like the lion King because they were able to drive the Safari, but they should also look at all different company because people were able to draw almost the entirety of New York City that takes a lot of time and effort and the fact a lot of people don’t know more about this movie is what makes meso shocked and angry at the same time this movie is so good and I agree with you. I’m finally glad it’s getting more attention and recognized.

THAT "DARK AGES" OF DISNEY WAS REALLY JUST TWO MOVIES AND THE LACK OF RECEPTION TO HIGH BUDGET FILM CARTOONS AT THE TIME. BUT THE RESCUERS, ROBIN HOOD AND THIS FILM WERE GOOD- ID EVEN SAY ARISTOCATS HAS GOOD MOMENTS EVEN IF ITS KINDA INSENSITIVE. REAGANS AMERICA JUST MADE IT HARD TO ENJOIY SIMPLE STUFF THE ADULT AUDIENCE WERE SEVERELY DISTRACTED BY OTHER THINGS.

Fantastic interview! I liked how the cast was really great to work with. I think the story about Cheech maybe getting his own project was pretty interesting, even though it didn't go anywhere he did end up being in the Lion King and the Cars movies.

8:15 I like where George talks about Billy and Cheech. They were perfect as Dodger and Tito. And that his favorite scenes are Fagin reading the dogs a bedtime story and the 'Why Should I Worry" number. Those scenes are some of my favorites too.

Hi! I’m a HUGE Sesame Street and Muppet fan! And I love your Retired Sesame Street videos! I’m a puppeteer myself and I also collect and restore vintage Muppet, and Sesame Street stuff! I own some of the original books and merchandise and I’ve done some of my own research and found some more information about some of the retired characters you talked about like Farly, Mr. Johnson and many more! If you ever want any information about more retired characters I’ll be more then happy to share! Have a wonderful day!

I enjoyed the video. I think its still cool Penny was used for inspiration, and considering the situation Jenny was in, I think she wouldn't have hesitated to help Jenny. I say that because Sykes while not being as colorful or impressive with abilities so to speak, is alot like McLeach and Madusa in the sense they are manipulative, and can break someone mentally, physically, and emotionally. That right there says how dangerous Sykes is. Looking forward to Rescue Rangers and the little Mermaid.

There seems to be more male characters that are prominent in the movie - even the main humans aside from Jenny are males (her parents are mentioned but are physically nonexistent in the story). Rita and Georgette are essentially the b word in the literal sense in that they are female dogs.
