I am glad Prince worked with so smart, humble, nice and talented people. Susan Rogers is great, I could listen to her for even more hours

Anyone think Susan should have her own podcast about music?! I would devour hours of it! She’s so awesome! A worthy acolyte for Prince, but more importantly, a FREAKIN’ LEGEND in her own right!

A treat to hear someone who is both the ultimate insider (Princewise and in terms of engineering), and an articulate, thoughtful historian of sorts. Posthumous Prince is indeed fortunate to have a fine apologist tending to his legacy.

Great podcast Mr. Christopher, hello Jeff, Susan thanks for sharing. She did say in an interview that "This is what it sounds like " is off prince. Susan did prince know you saw his concerts before you met him? If so I wonder if he asked you "your opinion "? WOW, Susan said everyone got their own motel room on the 84' tour. I read prince had a team of 125 people. He must of rented the whole top floor in 3 motels, the A B & C groups. I can't imagine how much just the boarding cost alone was, remember Apollonia, Susan moosie and brenda was on that tour too.

I want a Prince Netflix series based on Susan Roger's life : ) by the way can someone tell Jeff to talk louder or put the mike closer to his mouth. I could barely hear him.

Thank u. We did rectify the audio issued with Jeff on the main sound file. So check Spotify, iHeartRadio, Apple Music, etc and search for Funkatopia Live and you can hear the audio changes. And Jeff. ;)

She's so great! I agree with what Mr. Christopher says about bootlegs and buying the official version once it's released BUT I do know someone who, after hearing the official release of Purple Music, told me "I'll stick with the bootleg", which I thought was wild! But I kind of understand - The original/bootleg has a roughness and also the actual mix IS different and more "avant-garde" (for want of a better word) and somehow reminds both of us of the New York duo Suicide (maybe because it's spacier and tougher sounding) 🙂

@@vivcanal2111 nah lol that’s his song from beginning to end. Wrote it in 79 I believe. Redid it in 86. By himself. Strange relationship he wrote but they remixed it in 85. He pulled it back out and remixed it again and muted or mixed down their contribution. Beautiful night was the live jam from the Parade tour but he heavily overdubbed if.
@vivcanal2111 Жыл бұрын
Ah yes, my mistake re ICNTTPOYM - I am thinking of a remix I heard (and used to have) which had them on backing vox. Re everything else. in the words of Morris E Day, 'Tell me something I don't already know' 😄

- at this time we are talking abot - Prince run at least 2 other bands at the same time as well - I deeply belief he was a master genius in moulding the music market as well … and moreover he challenged to create himself a legend

Susan's memory is fantastic. Her answer about 'chains' was phenomenal. For me, it's just the opposite with certain recordings like those of Charlie Parker. With those, just hearing the notes is important. Not the quality of the recording.

Facinating. Around the World in a Day - often taken from rehearshals through a "horrible signal chain" - that info from Dr Rogers help explains why the album is pretty poor sonically - if not creatively. at 01'32''00

I don't think Prince wouldn't have been happy, as Susan says, with Michael Howe accusing him of promoting rape and censoring his music.
