You can strain yourself until blue in the face desperately trying to make people aware of any given corruption, but it won't go far and often only fuels those who have already long ago decided they know everything. Unfortunately, the whole of society, globally, needs to radically change the whole way we run countries, media companies and even the internet. But that requires a majority of the world's population being forced into caring and making an effort to work TOGETHER to change things for the benefit of everyone, nit just themselves, their companies, their politics, their opinions, their own little back yard. How? I have NO idea, but it does seem like people are hell-bent on learning everything the hard way. It may well take nuclear destruction of most of the world and most nations and another century or two to end up with people caring enough and making the effort to change society. Ultimately, people have to change inwardly first, before society can really be changed for good. Until people change themselves and stop being corrupt, fundamentally, any outward expression of society and changes made will always remain part of corruption.

Likewise the UK consumer carries a heavier burden of indirect Tax Via VAT etc., The consumer also pays a disproportionally higher price for Utilities, Health Care, & the Transport system which has been sold off to Foreign Private enterprise & in some cases sold on to foreign governments. A high proportion of the money that UK consumers pay for these essentials leaves the country & a much lower proportion stays in the UK for maintenance, expansion & development. First root out ALL dirty money and introduce proper regulation in the City. Secondly to restructure our Judiciary along the lines of other European states whereby Judges are not chosen from Barristers, Solicitors and such like with a wink and a handshake, but that it is made a proper career path. Aligned with that again we need to copy the European model whereby the incredible sums needed to defend a law suite (currently about £1.5 million when an Kleptogarch is suing) and so make the law available to the people. The current system makes journalists, authors and even the law enforcement agencies very careful about taking Kleptogsrchs on. The U.K is in need of a clean up and part of that is to call the Tory party what it is - Neoliberal, so that all can leanr the term and it's implications to the commoners like myself.

As Hislop so eruditely put it the sub committee was held in a building, Parliament, where formerly the lobbyist money was sugar. This corruption has been endemic for centuries. We now focus on foreign influence to hide our own interests. The City can’t be fully regulated as it’s independent, the Square Mile. As our Empire collapsed a replacement of the financial revenues was required, which gave birth to tax havens. When our tax codes are stacked up they look like a tower of telephone directories. This enables the wealthy, who can afford lawyers and accountants, to exploit it. The government has no interest in simplifying a system that benefits it. As corporations increase employment their tax dodges are overlooked because employees can’t avoid taxes. Non jobs proliferate within such a system. The better the pay, hence the drive for high end tech employment, the greater the tax take as the basic threshold is broken. More taxes, more state apparatus, and greater totalitarianism from the government. I doubt things will get sorted out as our government is adept at pointing the finger elsewhere diverting attention from the schemes it created to attract foreign money, Russian then Chinese.

Why do you keep saying corruption takes place in third world countries 🙄? Almost all laundered money from the poor of the developing countries end up in Swiss banks and UK's tax heavens. Then you blame the third world countries 🙄 . Whats wrong with you?

British economy will collapse without dirty money.
@nickbarton31912 жыл бұрын
I think not. Offshore dirty money costs 10s of billions in lost tax revenue.
@jounik2 жыл бұрын
@@nickbarton3191 That's intentional and built into the system. Filling those holes in tax revenue is what austerity is for, but 10% of the country's tax income is provided by the City laundromat.
@nickbarton31912 жыл бұрын
@@jounik the whole of the financial services sector only provides 8.6% of GDP 2020. It's not all dirty, problem is we don't know the extent of the washed money as most of it is offshore. It's definitely not feeding the UK economy except for keeping fat city cats in champagne.

The banking systems in a number of countries (incl uk and its oversea territories) are/were in on this. Moving those Russian money around was easy and very profitable. And politicians all over the world did preciously little to stop it, which in my opinion is why we are here today and contributing to a lot to people giving up on the established political parties.

Its because Swiss Bank accounts are in your name (but tax free). UK offshore accounts are tax free and not in your name.
