John Beaudin has been in major market radio (Edmonton, Vancouver & Calgary) for 35 years and a music journalist since 1989. He graduated from Broadcasting school as a newsman so he would have the skills to write about the artists that inspired him since he bought his first Elton John album as a teen. In the '80s Beaudin was the host of the syndicated radio show ‚”The Cross Canada Report‚” which had two versions (Rock and A/C). Beaudin was also asked to be a judge at the Juno Awards (Canada's answer to the Grammys) Twice. He has anchored every position in radio including morning and afternoon drive and was a Program and Music Director for The Breeze and California 103 in Calgary. He currently hosts the popular Lovesongs at QM-FM in Vancouver and on iHeartRadio.

Got to see Firefall live in the 80's and they were totally a rock band. Great musicians.

I was a huge Spirit fan and I saw them in concert I think maybe 4 times and I have to disagree with Mark, Spirit at the time back in the late 60s, was one of the largest Rock and Roll bands I ever witnessed. Maybe Mark was to close to inner scene, but out here in the world, they were up there with the biggest bands. A Spirit concert was almost like a spiritual experience, like Led Zeppelin, while I was watching Spirit play, I was thinking how could a band be this good! I always thought they never got the recognition they deserved, believe me, they deserved it all! One of my top 4 bands ever, and I have literally seen them all being an old rocker and player myself, just turning 71 years of age!

Matt Andes is Mark's brother who was in Jo Jo Gunne, amazing slide guitarist... Had the pleasure of playing and recording with him is the early 90s...

I saw Mark and Firefall on that first album tour. They really did sound good. Helped the road crew that night also. ...and my buddy gave Mark a ride to his hotel. Fond memories of my first Firefall show 🎶

Brother John! I am enjoying this interview with Mark. I didn’t know that he was with Canned Heat. I’ll have check my vinyl. It’s so interesting that he went from Canned Heat to Spirit to JoJo Gunne to Heart. What an awesome musician! I first noticed him in Spirit on the Family that Plays together. Yes. He didn't join Heart until the spring of 1982.

I’m glad Mark lost the lawsuit in which Led Zeppelin legitimately stole the music parts to a Spirit song. The pivotal beginning to the song. That wouldn’t be right that a band (Led Zepp) gets sued after they stole music parts from another band’s song. That would be sarcasm.
