Great interview, wow i had no idea what grips did, and it sounds so tough. Not what i had in my head at all. I'd always thought it sounded ... Errr ... Easy, fun. That someone said it was worse than Afghanistan soeaks volumes.

Yes! This job has a cool name, but it sounds like it takes people to their physical limits. What an education this was!

Thank you for the great interview, Melanie and Melissa! This was very helpful to better understand what a “grip” is and does on-set. It’s definitely an intense sounding job, especially for core crew, with 12-14hr days, no days off for 7-10 months and 4am rise times. It makes sense that it’s been compared with military work; hurry up and wait. Yes, it’s definitely a smart show. Scoot does sound like a cool, fun, personable guy and it’s been confirmed with interviewees. Kerry is certainly cool and smart. From seeing some of Mackenzie’s interviews it doesn’t surprise me she’s smart and down to Earth, too. Technocrane’s aren’t small. Even with two people pushing, it must’ve been a feat strength pushing one in the mud. Hopefully football cleats were available! Ms. Pac-Man is so much fun and much faster than Pac-Man! The ‘under the sheets’ scene was a cool, fun one for sure. I purchased “Below the Line” last night on Amazon. It sounds like it will be a fun read!

So glad this interview brought some new sides of the making of this show to light! I know I learned a lot from this chat, and it sounds like you did too. So glad you bought her book! I hope you enjoy it. She has so much inside knowledge to share.
