i would say he probably means the history of the greatest players of all times starting from the jazz era. Especially when the fusion style was born, with Tony Williams in the late 1960s. It does not take too much experience to hear the strongest influences in his playing, Williams, Cobham, Gadd, Weckl, Colaiuta and Chambers, to name the most popular.......
