this is incorrect for PUT. PUT can also create the resource, but the entity responsible for the creation of the resource is enclosed with the request and defined by the URI. With POST, the URI defines the entity on the server that is responsible for the creation of the resource. Of course, this means that the resource will get overwritten every time except the very first time when PUT method is used. The difference between PUT and POST is about control over the resource creation and meaning of URI within the request.

Hey thanks ..better if you have few more concepts in this .i.e @RequestMapping @RestController @GetMapping @PostMapping so on...my intention is now interview procedure is different ..asking you the process like practicle instead of defination so I can add few to help you guys. 1)The basic procedure is how can you consume a services from other third application it means am asking about RestTemplate...in order to consume what are the steps required ? 2)In order to producing the services what are the steps required means how to frame end points and http headers so on... 3)How internally response will be converted object to json or json to object? 4)Why list return type not preparable ? 5)How many ways to consume the services with RestTemplate..? 5) differences b/w controller and rest controller annotations? How we can send different type of response with same endpoint? format may be xml or json is it possible?

You can do this by using @Produce annotation by specifying MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON/XML etc at REST api level. Now based on the client request, it will send response in the form of json/xml
