They ask about family members just to know who all there in your family what your father does and what's your family financial condition and how desperately you wanted this job if you say that your father is a small businessman runs a shop they will think that this candidate will join the company if gets selected and on the other hand if you say that your father is a government officer or any good business and have a decent financial condition they might not select you they will think later you may deny the offer because already the financial condition is good in your family... So this is the reason they ask about family...
