I loved him in pentatonix but he absolutely blows me away solo! So talented and just a lovely person. I cannot wait for what he has in store next he just keeps getting better!

Avi sounds like he's in such a positive space now. In the beginning I was having trouble relating to his solo work. There was so much sorrow and struggle in his lyrics, and that powerful voice of his took me to those heavy places. I'm feeling a lot more joy from him these days. Such a special, sincere talent!

What really surprised me about Avi and his solo work is that so many people were just literally blown away….”he can sing??” Damn right he can sing…..he can sing beautifully, in both his upper and lower register, and he writes and arranges and plays. Which just showed how criminally underused he was in PTX. It wasn’t anyone’s fault but the nature of the roles in an acapella group meant there was little room for him to stretch. He NEEDED to leave PTX. He’d done what could both for PTX and himself in that milieu, and he had to stretch his wings, and do his own thing. And the result is someone who can sing “all is well in my soul” and mean it. And the lovely thing is that he now has a fan base that are happy for him.

He was the bass which, by definition, precluded a lot of singing

This comment makes no sense to me. How deaf would you need to be to think Avi couldn't sing? That's an outrageous conclusion.

I am so thankful his Dad raised him in all of the fabulous music he did, and that Avi was the soul to be raised in that genera. It is as if his Dad, knew Avi's soul and fed him what he needed, and Avi took to it like a duck to water.

He said people could expect a "grounding atmosphere" (or something along the lines) at the shows - they absolutely achieved that! I felt exactly like that after the show I went to - more grounded, relaxed, as if my perspective on everything had just been re-aligned in the most positive way. Can't wait for Avi to come back to Europe!

Avi's voice is so beautiful and his music truly touches my soul. I was a huge PTX fan, and I still enjoy their music old and new. But, now when I listen to PTX, I don't hear Avi's voice in the songs he was part of. Avi was the bass, the beat, the rhythm of the songs along with Kevin. And they were amazing at it. Until Avi went solo, I had never listened to the genre he sings. It took a little getting getting used to, but the more I listened to his songs the more I loved them. I have every song he has released, even a preorder on Floating On A Dream. I want so badly to see him in concert. I had tickets to his LA concert and I was so excited! But, COVID had just began and the concert was canceled as California began to shut down. I was so broken hearted! I hope I can see him this year in one of his shows in the US. Going solo was a good thing for Avi. And a great thing for his talent that can now be fully shown and allowed to grow. He is a beautiful person, and that beauty and soul is finally part of his music now that he's a solo artist.

I have to laugh at myself! After hearing and watching "all is well" and loving the way Avi and Joy just sounded so good together, seemed to be on the same wavelength, I wrote a comment after listening for the umpteenth time and I said: if Joy is not accounted for! I was all for them getting together as a couple! She's beautiful, sensitive, has a lovely voice and they just blended so well in every way. Yeah, I had them married, living a very musical, happy life together!!!! THEN I watched a video of Joy singing somewhere on stage, a very pregnant Joy too so that put paid to my grand idea. I don't mind admitting I was VERY disappointed. But nevertheless what a beautiful couple. Thank you for making this wonderful video of a wonderful song together. Love to you both and stay safe.

Interesting.. His speaking voice is much higher and lighter than I expected it to be
@ginoreitabagan59352 жыл бұрын
yeah same but i think he adjusted his speaking voice so people could understand what he is saying. he said that in an interview long ago
@pleasegoawaydude2 жыл бұрын
@@ginoreitabagan5935 Also, if you notice, his voice isn't actually high. He speaks much lower than most people, but his voice is much more forward and nasal which makes it clearer and easier to understand. It makes him sound like he's speaking in a normal range, but if you hit the notes with your own voice, you realize he's absolutely within a bass speaking range even at the highest pitch. I think it's super interesting!
@luscao84442 жыл бұрын
@@ginoreitabagan5935 Yep, I've seen him speaking in a more relaxed way, you can see that in some of his insta live he does sometimes, there he is speaking lower and you can see the resonance of his voice.

I can’t stand him now. It is low and dark. It is disappointing. Good he is happy. Bummer I can’t get into it. He is talented. Just not enough to keep me as a fan. He doesn’t need me, obviously. I think there is a reason he didn’t solo much formally, his voice didn’t fit in with the others. The chemistry vocally was best as a base. It is particularly obvious, since Matt ( new bass) in ptx sings regularly. More versatile then Avi vocally as far as his range. I smile now as he says he talks about doing covers, yup those are still in ptx, so is writing their own music. So is them all having solo interests and careers. Doesn’t sound like he misses ptx; so all the power to him. Wish him well. Not my cup of tea. I don’t enjoy his interviews. The coy shade he tosses on what gave him his start, his chance to “come home home” and even do solo with any success is tacky. All my opinion. I am fine if you don’t agree. Leave it on the page please. I’ve read the glowing reviews here too. I am great agreeing to disagree, and have no desire to be shit on by huge fans, as I didn’t single anyone out. Have a great morning
@Gonegirls122 жыл бұрын
@Avi Kaplan no. You are a very talented guy, just not the music I tend to enjoy. You do seem like you’re happy, and that is a beautiful thing. I have a wonderful friend and his wife who sing bluegrass and folk music. Her voice is strong and sultry different vibe. She actually pair well with you. Mike sings harmony; you are all power and projection ( the double note thing is awesome) so is her voice. Do your thing to be happy. I wish you all the best. May you become king of your music story.
