Miku has that perfect bubbly extroverted anime voice and personality. Saiki is shy ,rather introverted. and somewhat mysterious . Kanami is sweet,unassuming,and humble. Akane is organized and a natural with administrative duties Misa uses few words and is also somewhat mysterious but not shy. They compliment one another with the balance of their personalities and it lends itself well to their music!!!

I have a translation for this (was good japanese practise). Sry for the english. Its not very detailed, but ok i think. First introducement of the Band members Interviewer: As Band maid you have come around the world, but San Franzisko is the first time. Miku: Yes I: Since you are in S.F. have done smth. interesting like sightseeing etc? Miku: something interesting? (to the other) Other member: in the supermarket to pull shopping basket like you go for a stroll was surprising to me Interviewer: The concept of Maid band please explain Miku: Maid clothes wearing and hard rock playing. Miku: I worked as Maid and like it, so why not form a band and combine the Music and Maid that I like and form a band. sorede, birth of bandmaid. Interviewer: Explain how the other joined. Miku: I searched per computer for the other members. at first i found a video how the gitarist is playing for herself and was hooked. The other 2 i became aquainted through kanami. sorede, only the singer was left. My voices alone was not enough so i searched for a siinger. After a little persuasion she also joined. I: Was Band maids music influenced by someone? At first we made more popish musik, before made hard rock. but we searched what fit best to us, and what is cool and so we came to rock. especially by no one influenced. I. recently was daydreaming and choose me single released. talk about it Miku: Both songs were by Kanami composed and arranged. (Kanami talked a little about it) I: About all songs of band maid which do you like best. Kanami: Because i had many hardships and put effor into daydreaming this is my favourite Singer: (I did not hear the songname) Miku: Alone Next to Miku: Moratorium Bassist: Play I: at oversea live performances have you had any hardships Miku: I am not well informed about the words and phrases, so i searched for ways how i make it understandable for the foreign crowd, and i did my best at it. I: explain the differences about japan and oversea audience. Miku: japanese audience says to the performance of band maid " serving a dinner" and they are pretty shy On the other hand oversea people are very direct and throw in their body and soul, and say sings like kawaii very direct and easy to understand. If we give 100 we get back 1000 from the audience. As for throwing phrases at us, because its not so with jap. audience thats the biggest difference. I: Tell about the set list Miku: Sensei please explain the set list! Singer: KZbin songs are in the set-list included. I: Of This times event please tell your thoughts Miku: Because its our second time in Amerika we are super excited, and if we can "serve or dinner" this time as well, we are happy. I: Were there interesting things that happened during live. Singer: Hai, Miku fall down the stage. Miku: Hai, during my magic spell time where I interact with the like "moe, moe" and so on, i lost view of the before me and fell off. Ne, Sai-chan you thought I dissappeared. Singer: umm, i thought it was embarassing. I. Tell about your upcoming plans Miku: from middle of Septembre on in japan, sorekara Novembre in Europe live. I: Last words please Miku: Not only our fans in japan, because we are subjugate the world pleas oversea people also support us.

Saiki tends to do a lot more promotion work with Miku these days. Even MISA is taking a more active roll when in front of the camera. I think the world bass day event helped her realise just how popular she and her band mates are and more because of their music than anything else.

Weird, all you text is in English. Seems like you are targeting an English speaking audience. It is nice and respectful you are interviewing them in Japanese but some English context would have been nice.

We target both Japanese and English speaking fan-bases in all our interviews. There is a link to a translated transcription of the interview in the video's description (as in the case with all our interviews) In some cases we provide edited videos of the interview as an added bonus, but we do conduct all of them (with come rare exceptions) solely in Japanese.

I agree. Unfortunately we conduct about 30-40 interviews a year on top of other content and the videos aren't always approved (and when they are it's usually really late in the process) so subbing a video that might never see the light of day, or trying to do so quickly afterwards is rarely an option with the resources we have.

+Pek -J her use of "po" at the end of most of her statements is meant to refer to the sound a pigeon makes and is done as a sort of cute quirk. Similar to adding "nyan" (The Japanese equivalent of "meow") at the end of everything.

That is our chief translator and one of our key members, TIffany. The room we did this interview in was quite small so the forward shot had to be shot this way. We do have a side shot that is unobstructed but we didn't want to present the whole interview with a side shot.

I get the feeling they are happy to evolve. I can't see them being like Kiss or Po being like the ageing Robert Smith. They are way too image savvy. The two goths have been free pretty much from the start and I think the others enjoy the craic onstage. But I can't see them being like the ACDC dude. Po is going to be a crazy Kawaii pigeon for ages yet and get away with it. More and more their music speaks for itself. The only really downside in the west is that people think they are just Babymetal.2. Westerners don't get the variety of Japanese Street fashion and such. Akane is more Mori Girl off stage and each has a different street look. Rule number one "it's different in Japan". I think they'll break big in Europe first, outside a specific claque americans overthink this stuff. Anglo-Saxons and Scandinavians are pretty nervous about the whole Kawaii thing. "Is it ideologically sound" in southern Europe and South America (and East and South East Asia) nobody gives a fuck.

With the organically put together musicianship of these incredibly talented musicians and women. They only thing they have in common, is they both originated from the same country.. Nervous about the kawaii thing ? I think those same people you think that should be nervous about 5 women all approaching 30 yrs of age. Should be more uneasy about all these middle aged male fans. Going gah gah over, pre pubcent pre teen girls in & imaginary rock group. To me, that's what's incredibly creepy. And even more creepier then that. Is that creepiness is deemed acceptable. Because it's masked and disguised as a "heavy metal/death metal" supposed band. Have a great day !

Kanami is the only one who's willing to help what Miku is trying to do, selling the band with the kawaii image. But it looks the rest of the members don't give a damn. I guess the way Miku talks sounds a little too childish and contrived. I'm a native Japanese speaker.

If you knew anything about the band, you'd know the reason that Saiki, specifically, doesn't speak much due to social anxiety. She isn't "Japanese shy" or trying to uphold "the Japanese image/stereotype" it's an actual anxiety issue...like the rest of the band can get a word in anyway 😂
