Lisa, I have a question. I know my question could easily be misconstrued as toxic or disparaging but I don't intend it to be read that way. It's a genuine question from someone who doesn't pay attention to the pageantry scene and only has a superficial perspective on it. So here is my question what are the goods that comes from pageantry? And do those goods outweigh the evils, at least from my superficial understanding, that occur? Or maybe a better starting question is why does one get into pageantry?
@lisabenante36824 ай бұрын
Great question! 🤗 I was led into pageantry by following my passion for fitness. It was a prior Catholic seminarian I spoke to who encouraged me to share my faith through my journey. I consider pageantry as a stepping stone to speaking and writing, as a way to get my name out there. I hope this helps. 🤗

Can you please answer this question? I saw a video of Bishop Mari Mari talking about how people should not be praying to Mary because the only one who should be prayed to is God. Why would it be wrong to pray to Mary? When she has led many souls to Jesus Christ and God.
@tbenedict89834 ай бұрын
It is not wrong to pray to Mary. Jesus came through Mary in order to call us to follow Him. The easiest way to be like Christ is to come through Mary as well and ask for her petition to Jesus, let her work with us to become more like Christ and develop virtues. Also Jesus gave us Mary as our Mother at the foot of the cross (in John's gospel), so why should we pass on this amazing loving Mother we were given by our Lord Himself? While praying for Mary's intercession doesn't prevent from praying directly to God, and you should continue to pray to God directly as well. If you want some more infos you can look up for St Louis Grignon de Monfort book to Jesus through Mary or to St Maximilian Kolbe, who wrote a lot about the immaculate heart of Mary. Both recommended total consecration of your life to Mary on order to be closer to Christ. And many other saints did too, like St Bernard of Clairvaux, St Francis of Assisi, etc... God bless you

Is this book true to the knowledge that the church has about the saints or are there some artistic liberties taken for stories for children?
@fabiolagarzacreates4 ай бұрын
They are historically accurate with some artistic liberties, like Joan has her long hair and is still dressed as a girl when she meets the King, because of the short format it didn't give me time to explain the change. So you only see her with short hair until the Battle. Kateri would have been been baptized inside a church and not a river (as pictured) because I thought it was a better image that captured the feeling. Things like that!

This is so similar to a dream I have of novelizing the saints throughout history, creating a series of perhaps seven novels (6 covering the 2,000 years since Christ, 1 serving as a prequel of the Old Testament saints) that serves as a sort of modern day legendarium of Christendom, drawing inspiration from great Christian novelists like C.S. Lewis, John Bunyan, J.R.R. Tolkien, John Milton, Dante Alighieri, G.K. Chesterton, Fyodor Dostoyevsky & Leo Tolstoy, and my daughter dreams of turning her favorite Saint stories into comic books that also incorporate the legend, lore & fairy tale creatures of Europe & abroad as Christian allegory, starting with Joan of Arc, heavily calling back to the Merlin connection, etc. I live in Central Florida, perhaps I could work with Fabiola someday...LORD willing. @@CrixieOnWheelsBecause Jesus died for our sins and we should be reminded of the suffering that Jesus was willing to endure for the redemption of humanity. Catholics don’t see weakness in a bloody, beaten-down, crucified Jesus, Catholics see a figure of Jesus on the cross as the ultimate symbol of strength and love. Personally, seeing Jesus on the cross helps me in times of hardship. I’m reminded of how much the Lord loves me, what He endured for me, and gives me a guide on persevering through pain while still loving those who hurt us.

@fabiolagarzacreates4 ай бұрын
@@toeknee5565 I think it might be that you are trying to look at the project from the perspective of what Disney has been trying to do rather than just a Catholic who loves history and the universality of the Church. I knew that people would really hone in on the fact that I work for Disney (for the time being) and use that as a way to market it, and I understand that that is a really easy way to get people to click. And obviously I'm trained in a particular art style that people only ever associate with one studio even though several use it. I don't like diversity for diversity's sake. I think that is silly. Which is why I emphasize so much more the diversity of charisms and virtues rather than just the way people look. If it's not for you that is totally okay, and I totally understand how ridiculous and tiring some of the choices departments in Disney are making. I'm happy to DM if you want to chat about anything in particular that I might not be able to discuss in the public square.

@@fabiolagarzacreates I was really excited when I stared the video but I got puzzled around the time where you were explaining "it's really hard to find good examples of saints in that part /these parts of the world". My natural first question was "then why not use any number of extraordinary examples of women saints from other places where they are abundant and maybe more well-known?". Maybe I am reading too much into it but it seemed like a choice was made to find representations from particular parts of the world first, and then see what was available to write about. I don't mean for this to seem like a personal attack at all, but you're right, part of what drew my attention to click the video in the first place was indeed the association of yours with Disney and through watching the video I started feeling like I was seeing a similar wash cycle that Disney uses.
@fabiolagarzacreates4 ай бұрын
@@toeknee5565 I think you might be reading to much into this, which I totally do when I listen to other things because I too get a knee jerk reaction when I hear DEI brownie point things. I wanted the series to cover the whole world, from the point of the Kingdom of God encompassing every personality, charism and country. It's just of course part of the the research challenge (that I love) to find info on lesser known saints. For instance, I'm soooo excited, I found books on a Saint from Madagascar, but all the books I found are in a different language so I have to get them translated. I just think it's cool to be able to find those things despite there being less available. And I also think its okay to acknowledge that little girls need to see saints, with different personalities, gifts, paths and yes "looks" to know that God has can have a unique path for them too. I don't want to shy away from doing things on the fear that people will think I'm doing some sort of woke thing.
