What exactly have the Czech Republic and Ukraine in common? Czechia is a stable and prosperous Central European state while Ukraine is one of the poorest Eastern European countries. Ukrainians are the most frequent labor workers in Czechia, working as bricklayers and cleaning ladies. It's like comparing the U. S. to Mexico, economically and socially speaking.

Like yeah, there are many things that even you agree with and that's fine but if he really hates living there as much as it seems then why is he living there? I mean you were intellectualy much higher in this interview in comparison to his conservative, close-minded views. Dominik, I agree!!!! Jen! You are amazing. I am a Czech and have lived in the USA for 20 years. I am a psychotherapist - one bachelor and two master’s degrees later. Of course people are racist. We are racist. I am not looking to start any fights and arguments here and I have only watched a half of this video. However, with all my university education from USA, I still recall watching Last Chance for Eden documentary in 2012 and also learning about Jane Elliot’s Blue Eyes/ Brown Eyes experiment in undergrad. I was blown, absolutely wide eyed! No doubt the American culture is racist and so is Czech. People don’t have to like this but I would not trade my education for anything. I am grateful to my professors for having the wisdom to teach us the way they did even though I live in the South. My professor told me she was not allowed to do a public viewing of Last Chance for Eden at our university as the administration was worried about having to debrief the white folks from the shock. Wow! She did a good job debriefing our class. Life changing.

Jen and Michal are among my absolutely most favourite two people on KZbin. It's so refreshing to listen to these two young personalities - intelligent, eloquent, open-minded... who has something valuable to say... Michal's last "patriotic" sentences remind me my own experience after all my travellings and work in Japan, EU, US... my much deeper appreciation how good life in a good country we are actually living in... (BTW, Michal's comments in Czech language sound more polite than in English...) And concerning US vs EU/CR comparisons - I've learned one fundamental thing: there is not just one US - but so many of them: US of big cities, US of countryside , US of Universities, US of labours, US of poor and rich, etc etc. So I fully understand Jen's gentle comments in this respect, not only in this video and not only about LA... Best Wishes!

Tradičně velmi decentní a milá Jen by si jistě zasloužila odpovědi spíše v Michalově "českém modu" - ale snad budeme všichni trochu nad věcí...

That is a great point about “There is not one US” My first and long experience is from Silicon Valley. That was were I made my picture about the USA and US people. The experience was just positive in many (all) aspects. I thought that this is the US standard and when I started traveling more around the USA, lived different places, I expected nothing but similar or better experience. Boy I was wrong and shocked😮 😳 I forgot one thing that I never got and liked in Silicon Valley - the homelessness and dirt in San Jose and San Francisco.

A kdyz prijedu domu, rozumim VSECHNO. Najednou jsou kolem me misto zvuku slova, ktera davaji smysl.

I mean, if you would really speak with him these points deeply, he wouldn´t be probably THAT, he just made himself shorthanded in such an answers and statements. And the word feminism is almost a swear word for czech society. I was born in Czech Republic and lived there for the first 20 years of my life and I do live now 19 years in another europian country . Thanks for the video! My oppinion about the BLM riots - I don´t get how they can say that destroying of shops can someone call a "way of sadness and you can´t tell anyone how to act when he is sad". For me it is just pure hypocrisy. I don´t say that the idea of BLM is bad, but this looks taking another extreme - oposite extreme. And it´s hard to understand that. Sometimes I can here or see on internet some sentences from black people (or they marked themself as black) - if the same is used by "white" or "not black" person, the same people are the first yelling that the white is rasist. I don´t get that - why from one person it is ok and from another bad, when it should be bad from both of them? And the answer to one of Michael´s question - why are they destroying the shops was - "they will get it back from the insurance" - WTF?! Such carelessnes! Compare it with our Letná or now with protests in Belarus - people know that when they start to destroy anything, the goverment will mark them as loosers and nobody takes them seriously.

I would argue the person who was saying, "you can't tell anyone how to act when he is sad", really is saying, try to understand where that person is coming from even if you disagree. I don't condone the violence and destruction the American colonists engaged in leading up the American Revolution, but if I were advising the British government, I'd say you'd have to expect civil unrest if you are going to tax them for prior wars without their input, figure out an alternative. I don't condone that criminal activity rises in cities in economic decline. But if I were advising a mayor, I'd say you have to expect it and find solutions to the underlying problem of economic decline. I mean in a general sense, if someone said that to you while you were watching a friend loot, I'd tell you to stop your friend because there are all kinds of consequences he'll have to and should pay for if he engages in criminal activity. In terms of someone black saying something racist against a white person, I'd say you'd need to understand American culture. Whoever's saying that is definitely racist, and you definitely shouldn't be friends with them based on some white guilt or something. If someone's racist against you, you have a right to challenge them. But there's no power structure to support that person's racism. I'd put it like this. First I'll say, the Czech Republic is a great country. That being said, if Czech people were xenophobic to Americans, it really wouldn't matter. It wouldn't get your people very far, it would actually be a disadvantage to you. But if we Americans were xenophobic toward Czech people, we could do a lot of damage to your people and elect leaders that would make life very hard for your country and it wouldn't be affect us Americans much. Black people are 13 percent of Americans, we can't get very far with racism against Whites. We can't inact laws to oppress them, or anything of that nature (Not that I would want to.) And in terms of violence in looting in Belarus, whether or not there is some protests engage in it, that does not delegitimize the peaceful protestors' legitimate demands. Violence should be discouraged because it's harmful to the people, not because the government will use it to mark you as losers. Of course they will, and they are acting in bad faith. Otherwise it's unlikely it wouldn't be in the situation with protests, it would have engaged with its people in other much safer democratic tools to have a dialogue with its people. The government isn't some separate entity where the people have to act 100 percent one way to challenge it. The government is the people. They are supposed to represent our interests and if they don't in some area, we have the right to challenge them, regardless of what other Americans are doing.
