Don't forget that the only reason they were sober was because Doc finally put his foot down after Nikki's overdose, and made everyone get clean.

Definitely a contributing factor!. These days its only Nikki and (I believe) Mick are sober, while Tommy and Vince drink..

He's obvious a guy that knows what he's doing. Managing Motley, Bon Jovi, KISS, not to mention all the others, has to be a big job. Not something just anyone could do. DeVito would be a good choice to play him.

He does know what he's doing but he has a habit of building up a band, making them famous then ignoring them when he discovers another band. That was the case with Motley. He helped build them up and then when Doc became manager of Bon Jovi, he began to focus more on them than the Crue. The fallout happened in Moscow. Motley wanted to headline but instead he put them on midday and gave the headlining spot to Bon Jovi. That was when Motley cut ties with him.

@@bornbrit777 No, Bon Jovi simply became bigger than Motley Crue and that is why Doc was giving them better treatment than the Crue. Bon Jovi were better to work with than Motley Crue. In the 80s, Motley were junkies and Vince even accidentally killed Razzle. Nikki was a drug addict. It was easy for Doc Mcghee to give Bon Jovi the better treatment. I mean they were bigger, had more #1 songs and albums. You would had done the same too if you were in Doc's shoes. Bon Jovi was working, Motley wasn't. Motley had six months tours while Bon Jovi had fifteen months tour, see the difference? It's not nice to dislike Bon Jovi because a manager give them better treatment than Motley. Would you rather work with junkies, drug addicts, going to work for six months or would you rather work with clean people who goes to work for fifteen months? Choose.

@@bornbrit777 Motley couldn't headline because Bon Jovi were simply bigger. That's like saying The Who has to headline over The Beatles. At that time, Bon Jovi had four number #1 hit singles on the hot 100 and two #1 albums, Motley didn't have any of that. How could Motley headline if they were not bigger? If you were a manager, you would let the bigger artist headline. It's simple. Also, Motley fired him because of the pyro doing Bon Jovi's performance not because they couldn't headline. They knew that Bon Jovi were way bigger. Even Ozzy was headlining over Motley.

@@bornbrit777 Also, Motley Crue got signed into Elektra Records in June of 1982. By that time, in June of 1982, Jon Bon Jovi still didn't even had a band. Elektra would re-release Too Fast For Love on August of 1982, it flopped when it was re-released in 1982. Motley had a bad manager at that time that booked them for a Canadian tour even though Motley didn't had fans in Canada at that time. The manager also warned some of the Canadian clubs that there were bombs in there because of Motley Crue. Motley got angry and fired him at the spot. The manager didn't like Motley. Motley got Doc Mcghee in the fall of 1982, they had a major record label as well. It took them until April of 83 to get record Shout At The Devil. Why waste all that time? Shout At The Devil could had been released much earlier than September of 83 but Motley were just drinking and partying. Jon Bon Jovi formed Bon Jovi around early of 83. By the fall of 1983, Doc Mcghee gets involved with Bon Jovi. Motley released Shout At The Devil around late September of 1983. It took Motley a whole year to released a album even though they already had most of the Shout At The Devil songs in 1982. Bon Jovi were moving at a quicker faster pace that was willing to WORK while Motley didn't want to WORK. If someone doesn't want to WORK, then they have to get out of the way.

I like his quote: I never through what Motley Crue put me through.... Poison trashed their hotels because they thought it was what rockstars do. Motley Crue did it because they were simply Motley Crue. I wonder if he and the band are cool with each other?

Drug Smuggler McGhee makes me sick! In the 1980's he was busted twice for drug smuggling. The first time it was cocaine. The 2nd time he was convicted of smuggling 29,000 pounds of pot into NC on a shrimp boat. It's hard to believe that someboy could be arrested for smuggling quantities like this and yet serve no time!
