In 1974 I was that kid looking at rods and reels in the front window of ABC. Lily sold me a reel for £3.50. Great shop, great memories, great people. I'm not in Dublin often nowadays but always make a point of visiting.

Bought my first fishing rod here in the 1989, up on the train from Tipperary. Caught my first salmon with it the next day in blackwater Fermoy. Fantastic memories thank you so much for the reminder, good luck for the future 😊

Now that is a fantastic post I was first in the shop in the 1970s with my dad. Many years later I revisited when I took up fishing again. But I tell you it is an absolutely fantastic place you are always made welcome and the guys Allan his son and grandsons are great people absolute gentlemen great knowledge sense of humour. It is a place that you will enjoy even if it to look And don't fall in we need the business that brought a laugh and memories. Thank you so much for posting about this gem of a place you made myday

When i was a kid and had no money. I was given a jim teeny fly line that didnt match my rod rating. I brought it into him and he changed it for a Shakespeare one. He didnt sell jim teeny lines. Delighted to see he is still going😊

I really enjoyed watching this. Great shop, great advice given, a little discount is always given, especially to the Dublin inner city kids. Don't buy online, please, keep this little gem of a shop open. The last few seconds of the video are class. Somebody Please do an indepth interview with that amazing old man. I'd love to hear more detail of his life. Remember, don't fall in😅.

Great memories of the ABC my dad bought me my first rod there, as a kid i would cycle down just to look in the window at fishing gear even though i hadn't any money. Alan always had a great sense of humour and time for everyone. Great to see he is going strong .....

@@scooterfishing9323 No problem, ABC fishing tackle o me represents a disappearing world where in the days of the Internet people have lost, are losing or in some cases never had this kind of personal contact you get at an 'old shop' like ABC, things like pubs, record shops, book shops or godd old funky 2nd hand book shops, sure a click or two of the mouse and you can get what you want but to me it will will never replace this.

I went to Watts Brothers in Dublin for my firearms needs but I went Lily in ABC for my angling needs. I worked in DMG Motorcycles (along with my brother Stephen ) in the 1970's and 80's and Philip Prosser was a valued customer of DMG.

This is a fantastic video😊😊😮 In the 1970s I bought my fishing set all second hand from a local shop It was used to left new to the right in the shop😮you could spend all day in there Nothing was more than £3 When I came to sell it to a dealer in 2000 he offered twice more than I paid 😮😊😊😊 A good lesson there!!!!!?

Great to see small businesses still going but it’s not the oldest tackle shop Barton smiths, Sligo is a family run shop since the 1800s and still going, also when did we get CHUB in Ireland 😂 and theirs many regulations on our rivers lakes and sea angling 👍🏻🎣

A slip of the tongue I'd say. But there are some in the Shannon system. Via the River Inny. IFI claimed they had eradicated them. But they have since showed up again. You know how it is with invasives... Easy to put in. Not so easy to get out.

There has been Chub in Ireland before but have been eradicated due to being an invasive species. There has been reports of small Chub being caught in River Blackwater recently.

I could spend all day in a fishing shop looking about with the smell of neoprene and bait in the air. Online is convenient but anyone who loves our sport knows there is nothing better than local knowledge.i have never been in this shop but i think i will be some time in the future 🎣
