I wasn't a candidate for blood letting, so given my medical background I researched natural methods, which worked over nearly a year (the doctor was shocked I did her out of a job). I had been vegetarian for many years, so we think it must have been due to iron fortified foods (my iron was high by age 20, I am female). I used IP6, green tea, lactoferrin, cabbage, Bragg ACV etc. Also avoided pork and beef, and iron fortified foods (even rice now has it often). I also followed the Morley Robbins protocol to rectify the damage - low bioavail copper and B vits and Vit C etc. I did get strong chelation symptoms, so took liver herbs etc. Due to meat eating and the insanity of iron fortification, and low copper soils, many kids and young women are now getting it and not getting diagnosed. Most people are iron toxic these days, and low in bioavail copper (which regulates iron). Glyphosate also chelates copper. 'Anemia' is not usually an iron problem.
