The more I see of Lou Reed being 'awkward' in interviews the less it appears he was. He's dry-witted sure which doesn't always translate but most of all like his work he's honest, forthright. Like most artists there is a natural resentment to explaining or justifying work with the same unimaginative questions. Let the art speak for itself!

I love how Lou wears the sunglasses in the beginning as a barrier, then once he had assessed the interviewer wasn't a complete tool, Lou then takes off the sunglasses and engages..

Well, Laurie has been with Lou for more than ten years already, they seem very comfortable with each other. I saw them walking in together into the St Marks Church Theatre to go see an Avant Garde play by Freeman and was stunned to see him. They sat next to Yoko and Sean which blew me away.

Some children are more adult than some adults. I don't think he means that kids can't listen. I think it's more that he makes music for a mature audience.

Good stuff but I have to agree his face looks retouched, they made him look as young as he was in the Velvets days. Either he was on a great diet/exercise kick or more likely lots of makeup... and/or camera filters like what Playboy uses.

He looks about his age at the tie, 41 or 42 but with lots of makeup. Still, he was getting in better shape, having quit drugs by then and taking up with his wife Sylvia.

i take it you're not yet 21?? don't take it personally, he's referring to mindless pop music aimed at teenagers, he's distancing himself from that (not surprising as this interview was done in 1984 when pop music was horrible)

When he saus about "adult music" he doesnt mean because he doesnt want teenagersa listening to his music...its because mainly adults can understand and relate somewhat of a way to his music...the man has a song called heroin..i wouldnt promote it to teenagers if i had a song called heroin either
@xreddragonx14 жыл бұрын
@valboski No matter what you tell them, the teenagers will ALWAYS want everything to be about them. Even the ones who believe they're sophisticated enough to only take interest in music older than their parents, are stereotypical self-centered crybabies at heart.
