I'm so happy to see that Mr. Doughty no longer disavows the old band. They were my #1 favorite in NYC back in those days. But it seems disingenuous that he's calls it "weird" when the others don't want to work with him. Has he really forgotten all the insults and take-downs and accusations he's thrown at the band over the last 2 decades? And I don't just mean in social media posts and KZbin interviews-he published it all in a fucking book! If he wants to get the band back together, or even just win back the respect of all the old fans, I think step #1 would be a public apology and reconciliation. I'm not suggesting that everything bad in the band relationships was Doughty's fault. But I see the other bandmates being civil and realistic in interviews, while Doughty, until recently, was everything but. This, and his admission of being on a drug-fueled bender for most of those years, calls into question his credibility as a witness. For whatever it's worth, I look forward to listening to this new record.

Agree 1000%. Love Doughty, but the victimhood and narcissism on display in his book really made it hard to believe his accusations - he phrased the partying and drug use and everything as if the band were doing things TO HIM, instead of seeing things as happening TO THE BAND. No personal responsibility for a man in his twenties. Claiming publicly that your backing band only detracted from the music - and then to prove that also false, by publishing his own super-mediocre versions of those songs WITHOUT his old band... Yeah. Not a great look for Doughty. He's got to publicly demonstrate change before many would want to be involved with that. My respect for him plummeted over the last decade, but I always respect growth!

Wow I didn't know any of that I was a fan of Soul Coughing back in the day especially their first album Ruby Vroom but I haven't kept up with them I had no idea it'd all fallen apart for them. I know Mike and a heroin habit and eventually got himself clean and that's the last I remember hearing about him. I typed in Soul Coughing interview on KZbin because it's 4 someone in the morning and I'm bored it's weird to find this interview. Anyway thanks for the info.

I want the interview where he talks about the new reunion tour and how it's going. How the others have dealt with the things Mike's said about them, in the past, burying the hatchet stuff. Or is it just to cash in? Is it still a 4 way split??? All the dirt!!
