@Kupohunter morrisey is most definitely not a hipster. Hipsters attach themselves to trends. The smiths doing something different in music when the scene was all about dressing like a pirate and making clown music is pretty much the opposite of a hipster surely

God, Morrissey is such a knowledgeable person. Johnny Marr seems more soft-spoken, but equally intelligent. Maybe not quite as literate as Morrissey since Marr was so young at this point, but definitely intelligent and streaming with potential.

Made a choice between jean marais (this charming man sleeve) and clint eastwood. He's talking about the Smiths' covers.

i love his adj: "shambolic". i plan on using it regularly...back to his response. was that his way of saying he wanted the guy he thought was "hot"? or was his reaction a slight against eastwood, who, lets say, represents the type that may be intimidating to a more subdued, less aggressive, sensitive type of guy like M? if its the former, then isnt he exploiting the male form the way he was critical of rock bands doing that to women? do i have too much time on my hands to analyze this? :)

Ah I don't think so. On first glance the resemblance is strong. But these men were thinkers and took action when faced with the stagnation of popular culture. Whilst hipsters merely recycle and regurgitate, superimpose things on each other without good reason, pass it through a generic instagram filter and put it on the web for approval by others of their kind. There has arguably existed a hipster-like mentality for centuries if not millenia but it is not a brush I would paint the Smiths with.
