At 5:22 when he chuckles about his living conditions and then asks the interviewer if she lives in a modern maisonette, his eyes change and he's focused on her like he's truly interested.I point this out because it's SO CUTE.I miss him from these days. He's grown so jaded. When he was still so young he seemed to really want to love the world and was still trying to..Now, he seems resigned to misanthropy. The same can be said of myself, except my misanthropy isn't nearly as sexy or lucrative.

"I'd blatantly refuse to work". He is one of the few people to slip the word "blatant" into conversation and not use it falsely. If you need any proof that the man knew his diction and did intend the ambiguity that fans attributed to his songs, then concentrate on the loose accuracy as displayed here. His effete manner as shown in this interview is also no longer, which is a living artifice in itself. This man is ART.

What a great interview! Good intelligent interviewer as well, Morrissey's 'public' persona would be greater if he was constantly met by interviewers as intuitive and responsive as this. The mass-media interview template with its stereotyped 'independent personalities' and soundbite ethos, is rife with content for anyone trying to practice any sincere sense of independence lest they debunk their commercially flourishing competitors!

@vuzebittorrent Yes but very few do these days. Many article writers fail to use words such as blatant in the correct intent. Such subtleties as his use of words that are muddled in new meaning in their original definition show his prowess for language. He could have composed his songs in Dickensian dialect I am sure, yet he chose to be accurate and evasive instead. I was simply commenting on what I observed. Hope you understand. ;)

I wonder why he flirts with racism. He always has been provocative. Even the question of the apartheid in south africa, he avoids the quesiton entirely which is the only time he does that in this interview. I have heard him say that he likes to hear pop stars take risks, and not just say the same boring thing in the interview. He obviously believes that english culture has disappeared,
