Every policy implemented by Trudeau, that I can recall in recent years, is applying the brakes to the Canadian economy. The big foot has to come off of the brake pedal and move to the accelerator. Pierre is so right. I used to work in the Movie Industry and I was working all year long. I spoke to my accountant and he told me if I only worked 6 months a year I would have a lot more money in my pocket. So this is what I did. Canadian taxes have made us totally unproductive.

Some years ago, Canada's used to accept "forward averaging" deductions to address employment scenarios of having variable incomes from year to year. In a way RRSPs do a similar function. The idea was to spread the income gleaned in rich years, to the thin years. My plan was to eventually utilize this system. By the time I started making peak labour wages, the deduction system had vanished. And like you say, they also penalized my substantial overtime by taxing it to death. After a while, I also chose to work only seasonally, but mostly as a lifestyle choice. My deductions from income often amounted to more than 50% of my paycheque.

A friend of mine told me his accountant said the same thing. He was working lots of overtime in the oil patch, worked his farm when he was off shift, and his accountant said he's losing so much now in taxes that every dollar he earns from his overtime was just going straight to the government. He was working for free, so he cut back his hours. It's absolutely insane just how over-taxed Canadians are, especially the most productive and hardest working. Trudeau has to go.

I've waiting basically my whole life to hear a politician talk candidly and clearly about how policy can incentivize or disincentivize work. If you tax the hell out of labor and if you gradually pull away benefits when people begin to work, you basically on a societal level DEVESTATE the amount of work being done. The goods and services that are created by work ARE the wealth of a society, so you basically fuck everything up completely. I know it's not popular among conservatives, but a true implementation of UBI (NOT garbage GMI/GAI) could also alleviate the disincentivization of work among people requiring assistance. (As they would not have to work for pennies on the dollar as their benefits get stripped). The extra labor done by these people in conjunction with a low administrative overhead could actually possibly pay for the UBI itself. Meaning as a replacement for welfare and some other social benefit spending, not in addition to.

I think rather than a Ubi we should consider a certain segment of society perhaps 10% to be at risk and in cooperation with provincial governments fill the Gap in terms of frequently needing services and medication without having to tax the other 90% excessively to do so for example if someone is on disability and schizophrenic or perhaps suffers from depression it should be very easy for them to call someone and make sure that they're taken care of while at the same time being able to transition into work to the amount that they are able... this does not mean we need to have everybody covered for free medication as most people are covered by their employer but let's fill the Gap to make sure people have the medication and perhaps bus passes that they may need

So many on welfare here in St Catherine’s and overall Canada. I don’t begrudge those that need help for a period of time to get on there feet especially those with kids, however it is no longer that what it was intended for. Rather has become in many instances generational way of life with mothers promoting there young daughters to start producing many babies in order to secure good tax paid check. Then others collecting, receiving housing, etc, etc and working independently (good portion under the table like the cab driver owner that rented from me after wife kicked him out) in order to make a lot of money in combination. I have seen it with my very own eyes with 3 groups of individuals, 2 from Sudan, one from Cuba. Owning much wealth (like hundreds of thousands in cash and revenue based incomes in Sudan etc etc etc reporting very little to continue the free life of benifit’s. One having 10 children (not sure if more then 1 wife), another with 4 children 1 wife and a woman out in Edmonton with 2 kids a cleaning corporation yet bank rolling in the benifits next to free housing with a BMW and Mercedes suv ownership in her subsidized housing. Seems certain groups long time Canadians but also many longer in Canada foreigners that are using and abusing and seem to have learned every way possible to exploit with little contributions. It’s enough already need to figure out how to expose all the fraud and incentivize work for a living not baby breed for a free living while the rest pay there free ride and from what I have seen very comfortable life’s.

@Christian Marcoux. We do, we just need to make sure that manipulators can’t convince us to allow them to change in negative ways or bypass them. When the trucker protest happened, I was somewhat interested. When the government decided to use a war measures act to move legal goal posts, they had my undivided attention. Just because the laws exist does not mean that criminals will not attempt to get rid of them, change them or ignore them. It falls to us to preserve them at any cost.

@@sapporoichiban3612 90% of Canadian Truckers were vaccinated at the time. The Ottawa Occupation had clear ties to white supremacy. Two of its main organizers are white supremacists (Chris Barber and Pat King). The Charter of Rights and Freedoms' Notwithstanding Clause clearly states your rights and freedoms have REASONABLE limits. You are allowed to protest. You are not allowed to blockade a city. And these are the domestic terrorists that Poilievre was cheer-leading for.
@sapporoichiban3612

@@jordanbetteridge1598 Interesting take, too bad it was not original or accurate. Not concerned about who is or is not vaccinated. Can you say without question that all vaccinated people support mandates or forcing others to submit to unwanted medical procedures? I can tell you that I personally know quite a few vaccinated people who understand that the vaccine is for enhanced personal protection and serve no other real purpose, myself included. I certainly don't see the need to impose my will on others if they choose to make different decisions than me. That is ridiculous. There were two other protests happening during the Ottawa protest. In both cases, they did break the law and the protests were concluded through regular legal means. Trudeau invoked a war measures act to move legal goal posts in order to deal with protesters in Ottawa, that says a lot about the situation. A judge ruled the protest was excessively using air horns and found nothing more to be an issue. There was hours of video footage that clearly showed lanes open for use in key areas and the blockades were set up by police using barricades and equipment. All of these things are true and can't be changed. The fact that you use words like occupation and white supremacy, etc, tells me that you are not interested in a logical conversation. I am mostly interested in what I see and I interpret what I believe it means. I don't subscribe to the divisive brand of politics of today, unfortunately, there is no escaping it. That said, I have not looked to find out personal information on individuals to use as a character reference for a very large group of people because I agree or disagree with their stance on an unrelated issue. That is just nonsense and childish. A person who likes doing that would suggest that the NDP leader propping up your golden boy has ties to a terrorist organization and it is actually documented and the reason he is banned from entering India. Lets get back to my point. I suggest that we be diligent in preserving the integrity of our protective documents. The reason I believe this is paramount for all citizens, regardless if you agree with a specific issue or not, is that is a guarantee that we have a chance to resist tyranny. Remember, the next person in power may seriously disagree with you, would you like them to be able to bend rules?

Great interview PP. On point, none of the attempts at clever wit and character assassination, which comes off too Trudeau like. We can assess the character of the likes of Trudeau so don't emulate or lower yourself to that level.

They don’t concern themselves with drug free. It’s all ‘harm reduction’ now, and for many, it’s a joke. It makes it harder to quit even if you want to.

Like that Mr.P is actually articulating what he will do if he becomes PM vs bashing the current incompetent and ideological lot in Ottawa - I would like to see Mr.P and all other elected MP’s show up in person this fall at the doors of parliament ready to work - no zoom - show up like everyone else - you are ESSENTIAL!

Canada's last balanced budget was the Paul Martin's budget of 1997-98. I was a new Federal government employee and it was so easy and fun to do. Every day I felt like I was doing something important that would benefit everyone including myself. All I can say is its been downhill ever since. Way too many parasites in the government now.

Please ask Pierre about what he's going to do to improve productivity our competitive level absolutely sucks the average Canadian generates $50 US GDP per hour versus Americans generating 66 we are less than 70% as productive As Americans are please also ask what he will do to raise the income level per capita which is of course related to productivity

Great interview. I've been a Liberal/NDP switcheroo for a number of years and have finally come to my senses. Pierre seems to have a grasp of our current situation and I support his description of the various subjects. However, one topic not discussed is subsidies for the oil and gas sector. It makes sense to me that the huge profits currently being made should automatically include the reduction or elimination of any subsidies. In addition, abandoned dry wells need to be cleaned up and legislation must be enacted to force the O&G sector to undertake the cleaning during a period of high profit. Pierre talks about rewarding failure, so why would he reward this sector with subsidies if they fail to clean up dry wells?
