Thumbs up if you agree this version is better than the 2005 version. I certainly think so.

Antames I totally agree, I've seen The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and the Silver Chair at least 30 times by now👍
@atlekristiansen49756 жыл бұрын
It follows the book closer. And is better in that sense, yes. Unlike the movie, which seems to go at fast pace. But since the movie I have always wondered why BBC didn't give Peter and Edmund some armor during the battle. But, at least they both wore armors in the sequel...
@antames4 жыл бұрын
@Soy Allergies That's okay! The '05 one definitely has more of a cinematic movie edge to it, while the 90s felt more like a theatrical production. But they are both good in their own way.
@DanielSelk4 жыл бұрын
@@antames I agree with your statement. They both are good. BBC has the whole story and characters but is sort of fakey with it's visual effects and puppets, while the 2005 is better done technical wise but shorter and doesn't have everything but still does a wonderful job.
@sm4carnageihope3 жыл бұрын
In terms of faithfulness to the books, it's the BBC version, but I do think the 2005 version was the better overall version in terms of acting, effects, action, cinematography, dialogue and it was still faithful enough.

The presenter is speaking with highly manicured BBC English. You don't hear it much anymore.Can you imagine a BBC presenter asking a child actor today "It has rather a lot of religious echoes in it doesn't it, with Aslan being rather like Jesus Christ and dying at the end?" This little interview has a dignity to it. All three are speaking fairly quietly, informatively and aren't showing off. When did we become so brash and American?

I would have crapped my pants if I was sitting next to Barbara Kellerman at that time as a then 6 year old boy. She was the quintessential White Witch. Absolutely, legitimately terrifying. @Brendio3768 The old versions are closer to the stories than the new ones. These old ones are at time word for word from the book whereas the new ones created their own subpolts and rearrange the story however they wish. Also the animations were stated of the art at the time, the special effectf os today will no doubt be described as 'terrible' by the next generation.

I don't go much on Barbara Kellerman's portrayal these days. As a kid, the series was superb and Kellerman's witch was terrifying. Now, Kellerman's portrayal just seems overplayed, the rage outbursts seem comical and the straight-and-narrow following of the book just felt forced. It's easy to criticise the Walden Media production for its deviations from the original source material, but watching both makes you realise why they did, and TBH I prefer Swinton's more "seductive" Witch.
