i grew up in brooklyn in the 90's. my dad was always at work and my mom had cancer. we never really got to go out. also the neighborhood was too dangerous for us to go out and play on our own. i remember being really depressed this one summer hearing about where my class mates would go that summer knowing i would be stuck at home. i remember my brother sister and i were flipping through the channels and found narnia. we grew up with the books so we watched. we spent most of the summer indoors and the highlight to everyday was when narnia came on. we would record it and watch it over and over. one of the best summers i had as a kid.

He died this past year, on Christmas, and I really wanted to take these tapes from his place when we went through the estate. Unfortunately he had gotten rid of them, probably when he got his dvd player, so I’m happy the series can be found online. It came out before I was even born and I know the effects are terrible but I can’t help but love every second of it. I remember being terrified of the scene where they start reading the letter in mr tumnus’s house where it switches to the captain of the secret police it’s an arrest warrant and the guy roars at the end, I cried every time I watched it, seeing it now it seems kind of comical but as a child he haunted my dreams.

I first saw this cast reunion interview when I got the box set of the chronicles of Narnia, and it was lovely to watch :) I remember watching the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe when it came out, way back in 1988 when I was 7 years old. It was my favourite childhood story!! I'd watch it with my family every Sunday evening when it was on - good times! :) Many people who weren't maybe as pretty when they were young often grow into a swan, and that's what's happen to Sophie Wilcox here! (Thank goodness for orthodontic treatment, eh ;) although I'm hardly one to speak as I needed braces for being goofy when I was young too! lol) She seems a sweet girl, although I confess it does nark me slightly that she seems to hog most of the talking and question-answering in this interview! It would have been nice to hear Jonathan talking a bit more, but he's obviously just more quiet and reserved than the others. It's interesting how he says he 'occasionally' gets recognised as I think out of all of them, he's the one who looks the most similar to when he played Edmond - his face has barely changed in my opinion, and I'd definitely recognise him instantly if I ever bumped into him!! It's lovely to see them all reunited, and clearly they're all good friends all this time on, which is really nice! :)

It _is_ annoying how much the films use it, but I guess it was hard to avoid since they interact more with people from "our world" in the films. I find it funny how the book series never gets fully adapted. Didn't the BBC stop at silver chair and the movies stop at dawn treader.

So ... some of the "snow" they used during filming was actually foam/soap & they had to walk through it (getting soap-bubbles all over their feet)?? LMAO! It's a wonder no one slipped & fell on their arse! 😂

I have to be totally honest and say that I liked and disliked both the films and the TV series but for different reasons. I liked the TV Series for the way they so accurately followed the books. Many of the things either added or changed for the films drove me insane because they were so stupid. I like bits of all the films but i didn't take to Dawn Treader film version because it barely follows the book at all. Prince Caspian basically had the most important elements of the story but in a strange order and Peter becomes such a pompous controlling prat determined to remain in control I was throwing stuff at the screen when he was on it. However, some of the casting in the TV Series never seemed right. Lucy didn't fit my idea of her (she was never actually described so I think, more accurately I should say she didn't fit the drawings) Georgie Henley however fitted better in both image and her general portrayal of Lucy. In my opinion. Liam Neeson as Aslan was so perfect for the voice of Aslan in a way that cannot be described. Some of the changes in the film I approve of, such as the battle in LWATW and the coronation. The language was changed to make it more acceptable to the current generation which was fine. Also, the film dealt with a few minor details missed out in the books, like Lucy had a dagger which was basically forgotten about. Not holding the fact technology then was not was it was when the films were made. Nor that they may have been low budget. The story was important nothing more.

They used groundbreaking SFX? I had no idea, I've always enjoyed them because they stuck to the book and kinda rolled my eyes at the FX

Michael Aldridge was wonderful as Diggery. I so wish the BBC had completed the series. Disney did well, but then…they gave it up as well. Why can’t anyone complete the series.
