Very informational (thanks for tips on places to visit!) - you have made me put Philippines on my bucket list - going there for sure! I found the ambassador's comment on Sanskrit influence on Tagalog (Probably via Indonesia) & looked it up - some Tagalog words with Sanskrit origins: Asawa (spouse) - From Sanskrit "śvāśura" meaning father-in-law. Balita (news) - From Sanskrit "vṛtta" meaning event or news. Bathala (god) - From Sanskrit "bhattāra" meaning noble lord. Guro (teacher) - From Sanskrit "guru" meaning teacher or master. Lakas (strength) - From Sanskrit "lākṣā" meaning strength. Mutya (amulet, charm) - From Sanskrit "mukhyā" meaning chief, principal, or prominent. Sampalataya (faith) - From Sanskrit "sampad" meaning prosperity or welfare and "dayā" meaning compassion. Sabado (Saturday) - From Sanskrit "śanivāra" meaning day of Saturn. Buwan (month) - From Sanskrit "bhūvan" meaning world or universe. Hari (king) - From Sanskrit "hari" meaning lord or king. Also his comment on Cainta region being populated with descendants of Indian sepoys marrying locals. www.cainta.gov.ph/aboutcainta
