1:20 - yeah, once paired, your blutooth device should link up automatically when turned on in the area. When I'm listening to music on my phone it connects with the speakers in every room in my place. (Ha, funny story though, an acquaintance of mine got caught cheating when his girlfriend's "bestfriend"s phone automatically linked in with his car. Halfway to Coachella. That was drama, and I was lucky enough to be in the backseat. Sitting next to the "bestfriend".)

Claudette's profound question was the one that stuck out to me. Claudette: Who am I suppose to love. Who's my Lestat? Who's my Louis? A question neither of them have pondered before that moment. 9:25

You’re totally right that Louis wasn’t saying he didn’t love Lestat. And because Lestat went ballistic, he’ll never know what Louis would have chosen. Personally, I think Louis’s natural inclination would’ve been to try to save the family before leaving (hey, let’s explore Europe the three of us). But Lestat will never know. And I interpreted Louis’s “let go of me!” as “I’m not going to be forced into saying anything so long as you’re threatening me.” Which I think is totally valid. You can’t demand confessions of love or not-love while dangling them in the sky!

I'm not sure that Europe thing is out of the question. In the actual show's trailer there's a brief scene that might take place there.

Great points Davon, I agree that Louis would try and keep the family together rather then split them up. But since all that violence happened its hard to know how all this will go now.

That fight scene shook me. Seeing the horror on Claudia's face, seeing the abusive result at the hands of Lestat, and what Louis was willing to endure to protect Claudia through it all and the music pulling me in from the get go. Love should never have to hurt like that. I'm excited and nervous for episode 6 now. Thinking I'll watch right at midnight tonight. Feeling so wired for it.

I was so surprised Lestat didn't leave after dropping him, I thought for sure that was a moment of actually letting him go for a little while before coming back at some point in the future. Glad he's still there cause i enjoy his character so much. Though that scene was horrific by human standards, it seems not all that crazy for vampires, i think. I enjoy watching Lestat try and manage his vicious nature for Louis' sake. Can't wait for episode 6 too, I'm right there with you 🙂

@@reactingafool The preview after the credits seems to show that Lestat will beg Louis to take him back. Lestat bringing flowers and gifts. Lestat was so terrifying at the end of this episode because it makes you realize Lestat is bad when he gets really angry but most of the time that's few and far between and Lestat keeps saying that other vampires or at least the ones he's met and run into are the real monsters and are worse than him, so yeah If they are so bad Claudia should not be going into the lions den to find these other vampires and taking Louis with her that's just not smart I mean yeah they should distance themselves from Lestat for a little while but they should not go looking for these potentially dangerous vampires , I'm just saying Lestat left the old world of Europe I assume for a reason

You know I kinda love how they are handling the passage of time, For a Vampire who lives forever the years would all blend together, 7 years is just a short moment in their unlives. The creators being unclear of the passing of time, I think is a way for the viewer to experience time in a similar way.

Rashid just chilling out being Louis's breakfast cracks me up. And yes, a lot of us heard the pineapple line and thought, "That's...NOT what pineapple affects, friends!" The plotline with Claudia going away to "school" and being attacked is completely new for the show - although apparently Killer does appear in later books in the Chronicles. The way I see it is that even if it wasn't sexual assault, Bruce/Killer easily could have broken every bone in Claudia's body and she knew it. No wonder she wanted to get Louis before trying to get to Europe. Slapping someone the way Daniel did to Louis is, to me, a very old-fashioned thing to do - almost like he was challenging him to a duel. I think it's the only way he could communicate how FUCKED it is to purposely aggravate someone's neurological symptoms. A lot of folks had justifiably upset reactions to the end of the episode, especially commenters who have lived through domestic abuse - I saw someone say that their mom would definitely hide behind "Honey, it's fine, just go to your room, your father and I need to talk" like Louis did, trying to calm Claudia.

Louis and Lestat’s ways of loving are so different, and I believe that Lestat saying “you’re never going to love me like I love you“. is cause he loves obsessively and possessively while Louis does not. Lestat expects Louis to love him obsessively and possessively and all consumingly and Louis simply does not love in that manner and Lestat now acting like that’s reason enough to beat his partner to a pulp is when I was ready to jump through my laptop and fight that Frenchman

I believe they went underground... they don't really explain it in the show for some reason, but in the books and movie, vampires can kind of go dormant for a time not having to feed just in a deep sleep. they totally timeskipped the roaring 20s which is why when they woke up its the Great Depression.

So, I think he truly does love Lestat and can't say that he doesn't because it's not true. But even if it was, Louis is a man of pride and would never give Lestat the twisted, heartbreaking satisfaction of an answer to that question. Louis also, and rightfully so, couldn't just look at him and be like, "No, I do love you, idiot." Not with everything that just happened. Lestat being as he is, wouldn’t see it that way. I think Lestat made it very obvious that he feels emotionally neglected by Louis in his obsession with Claudia as well as growing up as a gay black man who was forced to toughen up and show his love in other ways rather than lavish Lestat with affirming words and physical intimacy, the two things Lestat longs for and wrongfully seeks out in others (Antionette) while they are still in a relationship that failed at being open. These two have big issues, things I can't spoil for you, but they love each other so desperately in their own way and struggle to see the perspective of the other. But bottom line, no matter how Lestat feels, his actions this episode are pretty awful. A break should do them well.

Louis isn't going anywhere for a while. He's too badly injured and maybe that was part of Lestat's motivation - to incapacitate Louis so he would be incapable of leaving him. Even when he recovers, Louis may not attempt to leave because he knows Lestat would hunt him and Claudia down if he tried. Besides, I think from the fact that Louis wouldn't tell Lestat he would never love him and the previews for epsisode 6 Louis still loves him and will try to forgive him. A lot of what Louis says to Daniel in the present day indicates that he still loves Lestat after all these years. The one thing that Lestat knows would be unforgivable by Louis is if he hurt Claudia so I think she is safe for now except for having to endure Lestat's verbal, sadistic emotional abuse. Also I think Lestat is going to regret his actions and try to make up with Louis and Claudia - for a while. The preview of episode 6 suggests this. Claudia isn't going to forgive Lestat ever for hurting Louis this way so the dysfunctional family dynamic will continue and become even more disturbing. One of my favorite things about this episode was the music playing throughout the fight scene that heightened how tragic this outcome is for Lestat and Louis' relationship which started out very loving though it was always toxic. The soundtrack became available a few days ago on Amazon and I have been listening to it over and over again.

Yeah I think lestat harming Louis to the point where it would take months for him to heal and recover was ABSOLUTELY the point of that fight. Because Louis was literally JUST about to leave him and so lestat made sure that Louis physically couldn't or it would be extremely difficult for him to do so in his condition.

Yo! You're caught up! That was a killer episode. We don't lie to you. It's building up. Many of us might be recuperating after last night (🎃Halloween🎃😎!!) Personally, I had a little too much Absinthe last night - but had to see your reaction to this episode. Best episode of tv this year so far! So much happened. Yeah, no spoilers, but that vamp was Bruce aka 'Killer' from the books. The leader of a biker gang of vampires (The Fang Gang) in the 80's. It was so cool, seeing him show up for a cameo as a biker in the 20's. But see though, Claudia can't take care of herself against other vamps. And you made me laugh, "Lestat hasn't been that bad" 16:00 and Lestat was like 'Hold my bloody beer'. 🤣🤣 But you're right, dynamics are changing fast. This episode triggered a lot of people. There'll be lots of talk about it.

Awesome dude, awesome reaction. See you next time. Favorite moment? the difficult emotional conversation between Louis and Claudia. Claudia making her plea to Louis and speaking the truth of how Lestat treats them. Things have to change. One way or the other. So where do they go next? I think I know that is I know from the books, but we’ll have to see where they go here in the show.

Absolutely, things are changing. And if it goes the way we all suspect - we have a better understanding of the 'why'. But I still feel just a tiny bit bad for Lestat. Louis is breaking his heart. And I'm not validating the beating, but ouch - in that cloud scene. We saw Lestat's real emotional vulnerability.

@@7n154 For sure. He’s done a lot to try to make Louis happy. Really, best way he knows how. Tried to teach he and Claudia, best way he knows how (mostly). They all are the way they are and feel the way they feel and interact as they do weighed down by their experience, love and hurt. The communication among them in the last part of this episode is really authentic feeling. I recognize that tearing in the heart. It’s horrible.

This was a really great analysis. I think one of their biggest problems is that they have different love languages and are terrible at communicating their needs. Lestat needs people to verbally tell him that they love him, that's his love language. Louis shows he loves someone by being there but he doesn't need or want to say things out loud. I'm similar to Lestat and in a similar situation where the person I love isn't capable of expressing their love in ways that satisfy my needs. I understand intellectually that they love me, but they don't say it or show emotions so I end up desperately clinging to any scrap of affection I can get from other people. This isn't a romantic relationship so I'm not cheating or anything, but it is a close family relationship with someone I live with and we mostly only have each other so it's rough. I've learned that I need to use my words and describe in detail what I need from my love one and why specifically I need it. That helps. Lestat needs to say, "Louis, I frequently tell you I love you but you don't say it back and that hurts me. I need to hear the words spoken out loud, that's just how my mind works."
@reactingafool
@reactingafool Жыл бұрын
Thank you.🙂 Yeah sometimes people just don't know how to properly communicate to eachother, and without the willingness to try and learn to properly communicate relationships can go south. Seems like communication is always the key to better relationships with close ones, be that with lovers, friends, familty members or whomever.

Oh shit, I just had a brainstorm, what if Lestat has kept Antoinette alive for this long to make her a "Mother" for Claudette, similar to the movie. Or will he choose someone else. That part will actually fall in line with the 1994 movie. But for those of us who have watched knows how that ended. It probably won't happen in that way but that's my current thought on the possibility.
