🙄; and dangerous!... Lestat has a lot of powers, and he was very charming and seductive., he was also constantly love-bombing and complimenting Louis. (when they first met, he use to say Louis's name after almost every sentence.) / 💭I think it would've been hard for almost anybody to say no to him.

I think they did really well to change some of the things from the book. Like the directors said, the book lovers already have the books to refer back to. If you want everything to stay the exact same, just read the books🤷🏻‍♀️ They wanted to make a third, new thing seperate from the movie and the books for a new generation to fall in love with the story

It's interesting watching book fans react to the show and yall reactions were very fun to watch. I personally think this is one of the best pilots of the year. I absolutely loved Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid's acting in the Church scene. I've only read the first 2 books and why I'm personally happy with some of the changes is because I don't exactly love Louis in the books so any change to improve/enrich the character is a go for me.

​@@frolickingchronicles Did Louis kill a priest in the book? I don't think he did. As a human he attacked a priest for saying Paul was possessed by the devil nearly killing him, but the priest didn't die. Maybe it's another part you meant, but that's the only one I can recall.

And then I grabbed him on the very steps to the Communion rail and pulled him down to face me there and sank my teeth into his neck." -T*

😏Lestat used every vampire trick he had in his vampire bag on Louis in that church to get him to agree... lol He was tired of waiting, and mad Louis didn't come back to his place, so he went off, killed people close to Louis to isolate him, then mentally stalked him almost driving him crazy., and when that didn't work he busted into the church and forced Louis to be with him... /📍I liked seeing them together, showing love to each other, but Lestat did basically force him into the relationship!...🤷🏽‍♀️ ~Louie loves him he just has a lot of resentment to work thru.

Maybe Brad was one foot in and one foot out on his role. I read he hated the make-up, contacts and bugs. Where Tom brought all the professionalism and was ALL IN for the role. Also, maybe Brad didn't like "being soft" as his future roles have been full of toxic masculinity. I have a love hate relationship with Brad. I should probably seek therapy. lol - T*

Recently binged this show and loved every second of it, fell in love with their toxic-but-genuinely-bonded relationship and cannot wait until S2! Grateful to hear reactions from book fans and non-book fans alike, and enjoyed your commentary a lot! I hope the apparent shifts in time, circumstances and setting don't prevent you from enjoying this version too much, because it's admittedly its own interpretation and more explicit, and I look forward to seeing your thoughts on the following episodes! As someone who's only watched the movie once decades ago and not read the books, I find these particular actors to be far more compelling than those in the film (Kirsten being the only stand out imo), and wish more people were talking about it, because it's wonderful!

Great reaction. But some of your hesitancy seems misplaced. "Getting there " in the relationship of Lestat and Louis is put beautifully in Anne's second book. The second one!! So it really is not that fast. Plus the show runners had no idea if they would get a second chance to show where the relationship of these two eventually went. It was "Love". Eternal and passionate. Lestat's own words in the second book. Also the Church being the setting for the devastation and beauty of the last scene. In the movie it was a Cemetery. Consecrated ground as is any Church. In the book it was at Louis estate. Lestat did not seem to have as much "Anti Religion" vibes in books as this TV series. But it is just a sign of the times, I guess. Easy target. Plus Anne herself had a bit of a falling out with The Church. It could have been her wishes to portray that. Can not wait for your continued reactions to this series. You two obviously know the source material well. I have read all the books multiple times. I think the "essence" of Anne's story with Lestat and Louis is coming through well. Will be waiting for your other episode reactions.

I wish that entire act was not given to Louis in the show. I’m enjoying the comments in regards to the VAMPIRE WEDDING tho’ which brings another layer of having Lestat change Louis with consent in the church. -T*

Louis was not changed already when he attacked the priest at his estate, he was in his “bug eater” stage for lack of a better term.

@@coreywallace2052 I disagree if we are talking about the book vs show. In the book Louis went to the church and the priest approached him for confession. This was well into the book as they were established in the French Quarter at this point. Louis was already changed (confessed to many murders in the quarter) and that's why I feel robbed by the show not being accurate. That scene in the book shook me, as it demonstrated the loss of humanity in Louis and also that God could not be present in a church. Roni and I were raised Catholic; are self confessed "sometimey" Catholics as we do not follow or believe in all church doctrine. Bug (rodent, animal) eater is correct if you're only viewing the show as separate from the book. -T*

Paul fell down the stairs and died in the book. That's what set off Louis's guilt cycle. Paul here was not mentally sound. Lestat didn't do it.

I think that's what Lestat was trying to tell Louis at the funeral, however; that was the wrong time for Lestat to show up. Lestat is so manipulative, and selfish. He wants what he wants when he wants it, with no concern for Louis's feelings.

I really enjoyed the first episode ! I hope Jacob Anderson gets nominated for an ward because the acting is outstanding. I wondered if Lestat fell in love with Louis at first sight, why did he flirt with Lilly in front of him? Also, I was disturbed how he was calling Louis during his brother's service then followed him to the church yikes. Please note that I haven't read the books but I plan too :)

Let us look back to Anne Rice’s loss of faith in Catholicism when she and Stan’s little girl died. I think this simply amplifies that experience for a more modern audience who really doesn’t know the original book nor the story of Anne Rice and the symbolism that worked its way into many of her books. (Please assure me that you both read the entire “Vampire Chronicles” collection.. I think I must be much,much older than both of you. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Mrs. Rice many years ago when she was famous for throwing her incredible parties annually in New Orleans for her vampire fans. My first edition, signed books by Mrs. Rice are treasured items in my home especially since her unfortunate passing. Lestat, Louis, Armand and the other amazing creatures we met in every book captured my heart and mind relighting my love of vampires and other gothic creatures of horror that lived in my childhood.. yes, perhaps I was a strange little one but I have loved every moment 😉. Please know I found you both very entertaining and of course I decided to join your channel and left a thumbs up. I hope to see you in future videos. Please take care. 🩸❤️🌹

Although, we have not made it past reading Queen of the Damned in the 90’s the show had us re-reading the 1st 2 chronicles.
