The comical carnage in the background while Armand and Louis were flirting makes a nice contrast with the full-on horror show of the Mardi Gras slaughter scene. This series has an excellent range of moods, approaches, and effects. I appreciate its versatility even more on seeing it all again in reactions.

It also beautifully shows how desensitised vampires are to murder. At this point Louis admits he regularly kills humans even though he's not forced to do it by an agreement with Lestat and Claudia anymore and while he doesn't enjoy it, he also doesn't seem to mind doing it nor does he bat an eye at people being massacred right in front of him. He hasn't been human for a long time and he's not even close to a "vegetarian" vampire. I quite like that this implies every vampire needs to accept they're a killer eventually, just like Lestat told Louis in season 1.

I just remembered that Louis has found a way in the present to drink human blood without killing, but my point still stands becuase it clearly took him a long time to find a way to accomplish that and it wouldn't have been possible for him in the past. And probably isn't feasible for most vampire to afford that

2:23 Assad does have a very sexy voice in Interview with the Vampire but he is putting on an accent in this show. He's from the north of England but in this show he's putting on like a southern English accent. His natural speaking voice which he uses in interviews and the accent that he uses on this show are both very nice to listen to!... But yeah, pretty much everybody in this show except for Eric Bogosian(old Daniel) are putting on accents 🤣🤣

Also, Armand isn't as bad as everyone says (at least not in this season). He just needs to find someone who would match his freak, and that someone is not Louis.

At the 11:00 min. point of the video, you started talking about long relationships and it made me think of the life I’ve spent with my husbands. You actually brought a tear to my eyes when I think about the people who we have known that didn’t make it this far.. the AIDS epidemic; the deaths from normal aging and those who died suddenly and unexpectedly. It’s hard to think about but yet, I can’t imagine life without the loves of my life. - I’m not sure I would want to go on with them. - Your reactions are wonderful and I hope to see more from you two.

If you read the books, you would understand in detail how Lestat plays into the Theatre and the how the coven follows laws based on how Armand talks about how he found the group. But this is more explored in the second book.

It's ok to compare modern vampire literature to traditional vampire literature, as long as you acknowledge that Bram Stoker and Anne Rice are the OG and in a league of their own. Everything since is just an imitation that draws from their tropes; be it the tasteful Vampire Diaries or the less tasteful, Twilight series 🤣

When you were talking about old queer couple, I kept thinking of a movie I watched a few months ago which is more a documentary about a swiss couple during the second world war but you have actual interviews if the couple mixed in and they are so cute If anyone is interested it's the circle 2014 ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Circle_(2014_film) )
