I would have asked him about the island that the kid sees in the movie towards the end. For me it looked to be inspired from Lord Ranganathar in Anantha sayanam pose in Paar kadal. Now that he says he travelled to South Indian temples before writing the book, I am 100 % sure, thats the reference.
