Ashley, your channel does matter. You normalize mental health, self care, self reflection, good boundaries, gender non-conforming, and sexual agency. You balance humor with honesty and vulnerability, and that creates a very strong connection with your audience. I'm still so isolated bc of the pandemic and gas prices being so high, and that gets lonely. I've found myself watching WHGS to vicariously be part of a social setting and with the queer community. I'm an Old Baby Gay (bi-erasure + comp het) and listening to you, Kate and your guests gives me so much insight into WLW and the wide wonderful world of gender. It feels like the home I want, though don't yet have. I also love that you talk about sex in a very real, non-judgemental way. I think women should have the space to do that in a normallized direct manner, like men can, and female desire should get as much air time as male desire. Your podcast is important. And also ridiculous. And that's a great combo. Please keep doing what you're doing, it means a lot right now.
@CM-dx5pb Жыл бұрын
This comment is literally everything I have ever felt expressed into words. I am a young baby gay(?), and had boyfriends because I thought I was bisexual but realized something didnt feel right and that comphet among other things were at play and that wlw is what feels right deep on the inside. I only found the podcast super recently and wish I had found it sooner. It has helped me so much with being comfortable as I figure out my sexuality and hearing all the stories about and relating to gax sex, queer community and more has helped me so much in my journey. I still havent figured it out completely yet but I am feeling much more comfortable and open to wherever i might find myself.

I mean... Hard for straight women to want to stay friends with a guy who abused her... XD LMFAO but go off, I guess.
@Sansankoneko Жыл бұрын
@@leti1569 I'm pansexual too. I'm all about staying friends, as long as the relationship wasn't abusive. XD Like "you should stay friends with that person who damaged you horribly, so they can continue to do so." Is a bit "yikes".
@Sansankoneko Жыл бұрын
Lol I know tons of cis people who stay friends with their exes. It's funny to think that there's people who just assume that only "this group" or "that group" are a certain way, when in reality, it's about how the relationship itself went, not the sexuality group. XD Unfortunately, through my years as a psychiatrist, most abusive relationships just happen to be between cis couples, than LGBT community. 🤔
@Zaddy-Lu Жыл бұрын
@@Sansankoneko I didn't speak in absolutes and there have been multiple studies that show LGBTQIA+ people are much more likely to stay friends post-breakup than cis/het people. It's theorized that it's due to our community being significantly smaller. I would think a "psychiatrist" would know that.
@Sansankoneko Жыл бұрын
@@Zaddy-Lu That's where you're mistaken. Another reason our community is successful with friendship after breakup is because as minorities, we fight for healthy relationships and understanding, not just because we're a small group. As a psychiatrist, I know that studies and statistics have many flaws depending on where, whom, how many, culture, etc applied to the "study". Just because numbers are thrown out on paper/online doesn't mean it's 100% accurate, it just means the studies "this far". I'm not trying to debate with anyone, just acknowledging what many misunderstood as "fact". Science is fluid, after all. I mean, it's fine if it makes you feel better to belittle me/my profession, but just be aware that singling out another group of individuals with assumptions is the equivalent of many assuming about our group too.

I broke up years ago with the person who ended up being my best friend, and who remains my greatest love. Even though us two queers were in what would likely be described as a Hetero Relationship™, SO MUCH of this episode - especially the stuff about shifting between forms of love - resonated to my core. I haven't come across another channel or podcast or PERSON that so often makes me feel seen, that makes my experiences feel valid. I often get the impression from your comedy and social media persona that you're focused exclusively on lesbian matters and that you're perfectly content with staying in that lane, but I wanted affirm that your stories reach the hearts of a wider audience. I doubt it's anything new or unexpected for you, but it still seems important to say it ❤️ Edit: goddamn it I jumped the gun with this comment lmao, you practically directly addressed my comment within the NEXT MINUTE after I'd paused the video to write it 😂

I have been wondering lately if I should reach out to my exes (all of whom are men) because I don't think any of them had proper closure after I ended things. Turns out it was because I'm gay 🌞 but then Ashley, your comment on not being friends with some of your exes got me thinking. What would reaching out even get me? I'm not interested in being their friend, so it would only be to selfishly wash my hands of the breakups 🤷🏼♀️
