Directed by Kevin Macdonald and based on the NY Times best-selling memoir “Guantánamo Diary” by Mohamedou Ould Slahi, this is inspiring the true story of Slahi’s fight for freedom after being detained and imprisoned without charge by the U.S. Government for years. Alone and afraid, Slahi (Tahar Rahim) finds allies in defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Jodie Foster) and her associate Teri Duncan (Shailene Woodley) who battle the U.S. government in a fight for justice that tests their commitment to the law and their client at every turn. Their controversial advocacy, along with evidence uncovered by a formidable military prosecutor, Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch (Benedict Cumberbatch), uncovers shocking truths and ultimately proves that the human spirit cannot be locked up.

Just watched the movie, it made me shed tears, the man was praying to God at his worst moment yet we have people with a beer in their hands having a good life questioning the existence of God, his prayers made me shed tears and inspired me to increase my faith and relationship with Allah.

Mohamedou is a True Muslim, his Faith promises him There will be Justice served in this world, or in the next, Allah is most compassionate and this world is a mere temporary journey. Bodily tortures is merely physical inflictions, but his Faith is much deeper than that. Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi too did not hold any grudges nor vindictive towards their imprisonment. Similarly the father of a muslim pizza delivery guy who was murdered unneccesarily, had hugged and pardoned the murderer of his son. Because in muslim psyche, this world is a temporary journey and our fate has been preordained by the Al Mighty.

Gandhi isn’t Muslim (neither is Mandela) and Gandhi is literally a pedophile so I don’t think it’s a smart idea to have him in a comment like that one

Muhammad has done all of us Muslims very proud because he showed to the world the true moral character of a Muslim and from my experience as a white Muslim it’s a very common disposition of the Arabs and anyone who has spent any time with practising Arab Muslims will recognise what I mean. They conquered my heart over 20 years ago.

I’ve watched the movie will be getting the book and I have to say Mahamadoo resilience is unquestionable. His story is heartbreaking and Nancy will to get the justice he deserves shows there is good people in the world who can still fight with the pen & win !

I really liked it. The casting was spot on. The dialogue was great. I don't understand America's insistence on using British actors to play Americans but whatever. The story is fascinating and disturbing and kept me enthralled the whole way through. Well worth a watch.

Levi Zachary comment about ...."people dont just go and act ill...." is complete bullshit and sounds like justification for the torture that Mohamedou and others suffered in Guantanamo. Somehow this comment detracts from all the other thoughtful comments of the actors.
