Papua citizen here (I live in the central, not the jungle area/tribe area). They actually don't eat humans like that anymore, maybe way back in the day (but still there's no valid proof of that). But one thing I can say is when you visit them make sure don't act suspicious and always respect their tribe culture (it's a tradition for them). They welcome tourists but if you act sus they are kinda aggressive towards you. That's all because Papua is part of Indonesia, and back in the day (I think they are still around) Papua had an organization called OPM (Operasi Papua Merdeka) which is a separation act from Indonesia because Papua received a lot of racist things from people of the west side of Indonesia (Papua on the east). Most likely because we have black skin, and they used to call us monkeys, and shit like that you know (just like black Americans in America). *sorry broken English, I'm not native

I guess it just became an urban legend. Papua culture seems interesting to be honest. My aunt married a Papuan guy and they used to have lots of Papuan tribe wood art and other things hanged in the walls of their house.
