i visited Croatia in 2016 and had a similar potato-n-chard dish that was fantastic. they served it with the potatoes slightly mashed so the consistency was a little more creamier. it was one of the best meals i had on the trip and i now make it often as well. as a matter of fact, i plan to serve it with a prime rib roast for Christmas dinner this year.
@inthekitchenwithelisa11 ай бұрын
How lovely that you share the same experience as I do with this dish😊 I will need to try to make it with slightly mashed potatoes, never had it that way yet. I can imagine how well it goes with a prime rib roast😋 We are on winter season in Germany at the moment, which means still some months to go until swiss chard will be back in season. Wishing you a great start into 2024!

Firstly, you're so sweet. - Secondly, you won my heart by having planted "blitva" (croatian for swiss chard or mangold). It is grown easily even in a balcony box, in cool climates. - Thirdly, it is worth mentioning that this is served as accompaniment to grilled fish or squid. Nutritionally, mangold is not similar to spinach. It containes much less iron; also it produces a slightly goitrogene effect (similar to bok choy greens). However it is rich in potassium and matches potatoes well.

You need more liquid! The potatoes need to be the ones for mashed potatoes, so they fall apart. Actually you boil the swiss chard, not pan fry it in oil. You made it too complicated. Boil the potatoes, boil the swiss chard. Put both in a ceramic bowl, mix them. Add s&p, thin garlic slices and some olive oil. Done.
@inthekitchenwithelisa Жыл бұрын
Actually this is the way I prefer to cook this dish and I like it this way. Nothing wrong with that 😉 I can see why you make it the way you make it, but I prefer my way, because I find it has more flavour.
