First loop, while it’s in the tool still, hold it clamped shut and then bend the wire back away from the loop slightly to get the eye/hole more centered with the shaft... also give you a little crease for the pliers to help close the loop if needed. I use stainless steel leader wire from cabelas/bass pro. Size #10. Which is 0.024” diameter. I tried making the micro shanks with #5 & #7 wire but it’s too thin so I shaped the ends of a pair of hemostats with a dremmel and bend micro shanks by hand.

The link for the pliers defaults to the small size (1.5mm). Is that the correct size for the wire?

I used .30 stainless bite wire and the looper blade did not last more than a few cuts it is dull anyone have this happen?
