I just happen to be working on a painting with brilliant Reds and oranges sky and was frustrated with my results Now I'll take the time to pre-mix colours with value, hue, saturation first and practice your blending techniques Sometimes I miss a few steps and have to rework over and over and it's really being disciplined all the time that works. I know eventually my paintings will come faster if I stick to those routines. Thank you again Dianne, you're the best! 😊

Perfect timing. I'm working on a sunset now. In Carlson's Guide to Landscape Painting, section on aerial perspective, pg. 66, he describes the sunset as a rainbow, I.E. prism. He feels there is an order to the colors we observe. When I started to observe more closely, he was right. There is a diagram in his book for the colors.

Thank you for another insightful lesson in how to "see." May I ask, what kind of tape do you use to tape your paper/canvas to your display boards? Regular masking tape seems to tear the surface of the presentation board that I have used, and the color of the blue masking tape is very distracting when trying to mix colors. Thank you!

Barbara, I use artist's tape. It's available from all the art supply stores.
