Thank you Dianne for such a great tutorial. I took a big gasp when I saw you spraying that gorgeous painting! Yep, I did…. But I was in awe as you masterfully lifted the beautiful shafts of light into the area. As a bonus, I loved seeing ing how you added the amazing tree branches. Thank you for doing this great watercolor tutorial!

Diane, you always provide a new tip to learn. Loved the shafts of light video even though I haven’t begun to paint in watercolor. This will be stored back in my brain until the time I will need it. Thanks!

I have that spray bottle, & I LOVE it!! I balked at the price for a few years & finally got one. I wish I'd gotten it sooner! ❤️

Now is what counts! Enjoy the journey with your spray bottle.

Right again...I'm ordering 2 of those bottles; one is for my son. Delta should give you something. No better advertising than from somebody who actually uses the product. Thanks so much for the shafts of light tips. I've always tried to do it with a wide damp brush, but mine turns out smeary! Your technique looks like you have more control. 😊

Have fun with it!

I ordered two as well. They are great.

Thank you Dianne. Very interesting but I am not as brave as you are so I wouldn't experiment with an old painting that looked so nice as your did. I would make a new experiment painting from start to finish :)

Christer, my mother used to call me adventurous. I suppose she knew me very well.
@sujanithtottempudi29913 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dianne🙏🙏 some artists also do this shafts wet on wet and remove the light rays with tissue .But that way you have less control over the dark parts of the painting I suppose?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction3 жыл бұрын
Both ways work. You are right, though: the wet method requires more control.
@sy2.0833 жыл бұрын
That is amazing-can this method be used with acrylics?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction3 жыл бұрын
I doubt it. The binder in acrylics makes them difficult to lift out. But, hey, it's worth a try!

Are you a mind reader? I just did a painting with rays through trees but I couldn’t figure out how to have light behind some trees. I’m wondering if I can use a ruler for guide.
@IntheStudioArtInstruction3 жыл бұрын
You can use a ruler as a guide, but be careful that it doesn't look mechanical, and watch for those splaying angles.

It's just tooo scary putting fresh water onto a watercolor painting - I'll have to take a deep breath before I do it........
@IntheStudioArtInstruction3 жыл бұрын
Maybe you could get beyond that if you practice on some pieces that didn't quite make the cut.
@mrsnrub97803 жыл бұрын
I'd like to learn to paint in watercolour, but I feel like a LOT of my sneaky 'impressionistic' shortcuts would be found out. Lol. And I don't enjoy painting tight.

Perhaps you might try Nita Engle's approach. Take a look at her book, How To Make a Watercolor Paint Itself at www.amazon.com/How-Make-Watercolor-Paint-Itself/dp/0823099776/ref=sr_1_1?crid=13REP9ZI2XO44&dchild=1&keywords=nita+engle.+how+to+make+a+watercolor+paint+itself&qid=1633430579&sprefix=nita+Engl%2Caps%2C187&sr=8-1
