im just a home owner, and a new 1 at that. 2 years only as i moved from an apartment. i don't have a wood stove, but my father does. i supply him with wood. oak and maple primarily. i also just started selling firewood bundles this year. like.... 2-3 weeks ago just started. being new i only own 1 husky 450 rancher, but a second saw is in the future some day if sales can pick up. i do stack my wood, but i only have a few cords currently. it was actually watching your videos that made me want to start selling wood, and i enjoy every bit of it!!

I've decided to just keep my pretty 100ft long stacked wood for looks by the hwy. and pile the rest on pallets behind it, leaving enough space for my truck and dump trailer to get through. I'm fortunate enough to have a factory just up the road that gives me all the 4'x12' pallets I can use so I will just make huge floors and pile the other wood like you do. I had many compliments on my long stacks of wood, sometimes 8 foot high, but I came to the conclusion that I would rather get paid for more production than getting paid compliments. Great videos. Fully worthy of morning toilet ring.

Hey Chris ... quick question ... was Joe from Ohio wood burner and Adam from [HOME TOWN ACRES] there at the Paul bunion show because you did not do a interview with them ... or is there a upcoming video of more people you are going to interview with that may include them?

Forgot about are limited edition 372xpw with the no longer made 75cc piston. More of a classic anymore as it cannot be replaced. . Local saw shop bought em by the pallet, crazy to think it went from a common saw to a rare saw in under 20 years.

I only have 4 works saws and I’m already thinking about more! I’m really enjoying my new 400c! When I start cutting decks I can see myself enjoying a ported 261, and I only have one big saw. On another note, here in Oregon we predominantly have Douglas fir/madrone/oak and everything else is usually referred to as trash wood. Fir is great wood but people are total snobs for madrone and oak is hard to sell, it sounds like your interviewee is from northern and I’m from down near California

QQQQQQ When you toss your fire wood into piles instead of stacking how do you keep them from molding
@InTheWoodyardКүн бұрын
I don't ...but the wind can blow through loose wood easier does it for me along with the sun that can hit more of the wood than tightly stacked stacked wood. Also it is on pallets elevated and much higher than I can stack it so......

No such thing as too much firewood!!! If it's available, get on it. As for favorites, Sugar Maple and Ash. Love me some cherry, apple, Beech and Oak, too, but Hard maple and ash make up the bulk of what I use. Soft maple is great for my uses, too- dries FAST, burns nice, and smells great. Only downside, is that it doesn't hold a coal very well- but for campfires, or grilling something quick, who cares? Hickory is great for bbq, but it takes wayyy too damn long to season from green, and those stupid bugs that love it make such a mess... Also, expensive around me, and hard to get because the bbq/smoker guys are all over any that's advertised. S'okay- I'll "suffer" cooking with apple, cherry, and sugar maple, lol. Throw some Sugar maple on a hot coal bed, and the aroma that comes off of it is insane! At the end of the day, I agree with Chris: The best wood is A) whatever is free!, and B) whatever you have. If I'm paying for it, I want the stuff from my favorites list.
