Wonder how many will make a comment of 'no chance in the derby'. Which is an easy comment to make when only one can actually win it. In fact if 20 run in the derby and you say that for every runner, you're guaranteed to be 95% correct. Would be nice for those types of commentators to say why and what they think will win, instead of just saying something and nothing and then not saying anything at all if the horse does win! Personally I will wait until after York before deciding, though I did like that turn of pace in what looked like a truly run race and a bonus that it was run at a course that is good practice for Epsom!

A good performance by A Friendly and has improved since his 4th place run in the Fielden Stakes. Illinois ran like a horse who really needed a run to bring him on. I could see him improving another 10 pounds for his next run. He may turn out to be more of a stayer than middle distance. I wouldn't be entirely sure if he would want that quick ground so be minded of that. Earlier in the week he was 5/2 second favourite and I think that was about right. Only bookmakers get it wrong most of the time.

@@suemaher5282 Not joking I backed it Ante post 20-1 before the Chester race in the morning £25 each way. Then had £118 win 9-4 on the day. I didn't even know it had passed away until I got home from work. Extremely unlucky would of been nice to see it progress.

You could be correct🤞 there no doubt if he was trained by the likes of Appleby, Gosden or O'Brien he would be pushing for Derby favourite, just waiting to see what happens tomorrow and Thursday before making my mind up, I thought that Chester Vase winner looked very decent but unfortunately he's no longer in the Derby equation.

@@Funeeman Yeah, it's a little over priced at the moment to be honest, as I've stated, if it was from the more "fashionable" establishment it would be something like 4/1 it was not just a good visual performance, it was also backed up by the clock, I would think Ancient Wisdoms participation will be subject to the going conditions, I think they pulled him out of a Newmarket gallop a few weeks ago because they thought the ground was a little on the firm side.
