Into the Rough Bounds, 4 Days Hiking in Knoydart , some call it Scotland's last wilderness. A serious place to go hiking and mountain climbing and can be impossible to reach when the weather is bad. I headed off from the campervan with my tent and enough provisions to hopefully see me through. Possibly some of the best conditions I have had when out camping on the summits.

Wow Murray! To have the motivation to do all of that while also filming at such a high standard deserves a lot of credit. Got to love how honest your films are and also the way you describe everything you have to overcome along the route. Those river crossings certainly looked relentless too. Well done on the editing of this film Murray. This would've took a lot of time to edit all the clips together whilst choosing the correct music for the scenery. What a great way to end the year mate! Don't think I've ever requested this to another camping channel but these 60-90 minute videos are great and it would be fantastic if you could produce more throughout this year. ATB Gaz.

Hi Murray - Greetings from Norway! This is the first video of yours that I have watched. It came up randomly on KZbin and I thought I'd give it a watch. I didn't think I would watch the whole thing without fast forwarding, but once I started watching I couldn't stop. You are not only a great hiker, but a great filmmaker as well. I loved your attention to detail when you set up the camera countless times to do the walk-by shots. I can't imagine how much extra time that added to your hike, but I appreciated the huge effort because it gives the viewer a different perspective rather than just carrying the camera while you hike. This won't be the last video of your I watch, as now I'm hooked. Thanks.

This is the ultimate in Scottish hillwalking documentaries Murray. You had the experience to tackle this adventure, and yet it challenged you. You have brought us some of the most dramatic footage of such a beautiful area that we dreamers 'frequent'. Knoydart is the bees knees as far as I'm concerned. I’m so glad you got back to the van in time, defo no need to apologise Murray, you took us so far to rugged isolated and emotive landscapes probably sacrificing your own enjoyment along the way. It was Majestic and I’ve done a bit of sharing onto my twitter account, it’s just such a privilege to be up there with you, so we can experience these moments of sheer wonderment with you, this is one of my favourites for a few reasons, one being the safety warnings and the seriousness of the ascent and descent in such rugged terrain, I thank you deeply for carrying us all in your backpack , god we must weigh a few tonnes ! 😄 with the deepest respect Old Owl 🦉 Alaya.

Of course I’m going to watch this one as well ! Your story telling is superb Murray, it’s so emotive, I nearly cried when you left Inverie, that feeling of not wanting to leave, are moments that memories are made of that never leave your mind, it’s like a small death that you grieve, especially if you think your not returning, that’s why I’m watching the first one in the wrong order, Ahhh Murray, your warnings are much appreciated at the beginning and surly set the stage for what I believe will be an arduous adventure, thank you deeply Murray for making this incredible content available to us, you have no idea what it means to us that can no longer do it, brings tears to the eyes Murray, bless you Old Owl 🦉 Alaya.

Late to the party but I've finally got round to watch this video. You got me glued from the 1st minute, as it often happens with your videos, but this one is just outstanding. Stunning scenery, great editing and once again most entertaining and informative dialogue. A pleasure to watch, thank you.

@@ScotlandsMountains I saw your post on fb a couple of weeks ago and I've been looking forward to the video since, I know that it'll be worth waiting for! In the meantime I keep enjoying your equally stunning other videos - even though I live just across the border, logistics are not always that simple, distances can be quite substantial and costs involved are not the lowest, so your videos are the best next thing to actually being there. Keep up the great work Murray (knee permitting of course) :)

Thanks for taking me on a trip to one of the remotest areas of Scotland in beautiful weather. A place I will probably never get to visit. A brilliant way to spend 90 minutes on a cold January evening. Your filming and editing is appreciated.

😮superb cinematography - captivating, the 1½ hours flew by. That was a serious amount of walking, given the passing camera shots, unless you had a secret camera operator. The first video of yours I've seen after YT recommended it, when I searched for Knoydart.

Epic video Murray. Thanks for continuing to bring us such entertaining and informative videos which show the best of Scotland's mountains. You were certainly lucky with the weather conditions which made the scenery even more stunning! I'd certainly be happy to watch more of these longer videos if you have the appetite (and time) to produce them.

I did not realise that people would climb these hills. You are right about that lack of people, you could lie until you die on these hills if you got injured. I first passed under both of these hills on a traverse of Knoydart from Morar Station to Kintail in late December 71. At that time we were assailed by cold horizontal rain for four days. The whole experience was terrifying, I did not think the sun ever reached Knoydart. December 73, I with friends did a Glenfinnan to Kintail traverse that included the track on the north shore of Loch Quioch. You are right about the river half way along the north shore. In the end we went some way down the river, and then over the ridge down to Kinloch Hourn. Thence past the Saddle down to Glen Sheil, and on to the Kintail Lodge Hotel for a well earned pint.

Epic, Murray! The word epic is overused when compared and contrasted with this trip out! My goodness. Knoydart had a little of everything, adventure, measured risk, isolation, ridge walks, inversions, spectres, sunrise/sunset, lone camp, more of an expedition really - absolutely brilliant. Really enjoyed it and massively appreciate the huge amount of research, planning and effort travelling to these places for you to take us along for the ride. Cheers, Murray! More strength to those Steaming Boots lad! 👌👍🏻😎🙏🙏🙏🥃

Extraordinary! I’d often wondered about Knoydart? Having read about its once thriving community before the clearances! I’m sick in bed at the moment in London, and having recently discovered your channel was enthused to see this. I’ve hiked and run in and around Glencoe, ran up and down Ben Nevis. And now that I have two new hips and have been treated successfully for blood cancer. I can’t wait to get out and in amongst it all with my fast growing wee boy of nine. The footage, the music, and the commentary here was smashing. The whole thing showed what can be done when willing and able. Really loved this. Although I’m still not sure how you know which water is good to drink. I remember drinking from a stream in Glencoe! It was the best tasting water ever..

This is awesome. As a professional in the broadcast industry, I'm very impressed with the level of camerawork and audio and editing here. I've been dying to go to Knoydart for ages and this video has given me the motivation to get fit, get some hiking days under my belt, get kitted out and attempt this sometime this year. Still can't grasp how you managed to get three days of calm blue skies in the West of Scotland in what has been a truly grim, endlessly overcast and bleak winter.
