The problem with the iPad lineup is they need to stop listening to bean counters: the current iPad Air should be the base model, and the iPad Pro needs a revamp to truly compete with laptops, without raising the prices. The current lineup makes sense only thinking of what kind of hardware they have to sell at those price points to defend their margins.

The iPad 9 and iPad 10 exist for the education market. Those are two extremely popular iPads for education. They are in fact more popular than Chromebooks. Apple does not want to lose this market which they will if they make the iPad Air the base model. So you are extremely uneducated

As an Engineering student and video editor (specifically color work), the iPad Pro with M series is more than enough. I can run Fusion 360 to view and modify 3D projects, I have an AMAZING display (with a reference mode) for color work, running basically full DaVinci Resolve, I can run the full Office Suite, and I can do it all over cellular.

I will probably drop netflix before I accept ads. I'd maybe try it for a month, but I have a strong feeling I will not be able to tolerate it. One of the main reasons I started watching Netflix was because I was sick of ads on TV. The convenience of streaming is great, but I consciously *stopped* watching broadcast TV because of ads.

Tesla truck should have been macho looking version of their suv with bed, not a cyberpunk truck, but prices are insane on electric vehicles because they cost 25-50% more than ice vehicles that are already to high priced

Regarding the Spotify changes, it's amazing how Bandcamp still exists in 2023. If you're Spotify 8 years ago, you could have easily killed Bandcamp with these merch and other features

The verge is really sleeping on discussing creative use cases particularly when it comes to the iPad and the quest/vr. Both have special input methods that specifically empowers those kinds of workflows. iPads have taken over for people working in illustration with procreate, and they are powerful professional 3d sculpting tools with nomad sculpt. Plus procreate dreams is gonna be huge for animaiton

Yes. I will. I have done it before and will do it again. Watching grainy and boxy videos is something that irks me especially with me paying for a gig internet plan getting a dolby vision and dolby atmos setup (not too expensive but still) and then if you ask me to watch dwayne johnson actually look like a rock… Nah.. we have other stuff to watch on Disney paramount max (the artist formerly known as HBO Max) hulu peacock and the best one out of all KZbin!

Never paid for 4K because my network in WI can't support it. Every recent price increase has basically led to being fine with fewer simultaneous streams or worse HD. Never going to ads though. Hell no.

Tesla lowering prices is actually smart for demand. Legacy automakers are stuck with annual price changes. But the legacy’s have the financing cornered. But will they continue to offer low rates?

Prices have gotten to high with all these video streaming company split offs, have to pay $15-$20 for multiple services to get same content we used to watch by just having netflix and hulu

Apple user for around 15yrs and really enjoy multi device ecosystem but the real problem is cost of devices have gotten ridiculous for pretty much same technology thats been used for last 5-7yrs, Apple has gotten more efficient in manufacturing an logistics saving them money but just keep raising prices then bring something new out at even higher price like vision pro and they wonder why people buying devices year over year are now buying devices every 4-5yrs

First off.... Nilay, there as some really J.J. Jamerson energy about the wipers. Second.... Yeah, the numbers are odd but I have say that I am not surprised about the rants against the interest rates. The larger companies do have some bank-like functions in the financing... Tesla would rather that you just bought the thing outright and the problem with that is that the consumer has to front that financing for a car. So they go to a bank to get a loan. A loan gets harder when interest rates are high, and for most of the auto industry that is in-house... they have no reason to jettison it as long as they get some profit from it. Tesla doesn't have that, they are completely reliant on international banks to front that money that consumers come to them with. That has been happening less often because of the rates, giving Elon heartburn. Third... I think that at this point Tesla is up against time if they want to keep being at the head of this ship. If something simply rocks the confidence of shareholders, then I don't know what happens in the smouldering wreckage, but that seems to be the only thing that keeps Tesla so valued. Auto history states that.... if stock price is the only thing of value, you are a Hedge fund and that doesn't last long. Ask Porsche how that goes, because they tied.

5-6G is long term play not short term but because these companies act like they’re broke an need short term gains they haven’t went full in the way they should for real nationwide coverage for true long term profitability

Tbh, I’m exactly the type of person who WOULD want 4k.. but I want to be on my Moms account for free more than I want 4k. Just have to connect to her WiFi and open the Netflix app once a month or my TV app stops working and only mobile devices will until I do.

Already quit Netflix and Prime. Disney's 4k price bump might make me quit that. For £20, I can buy 10-15 second hand Blu-rays. The only thing safe is KZbin at this point.

My lineup? Glad you asked! 1. iPad SE 9.7" iPad with current design language - with small bezels it isn't much bigger than the mini. Replaces the Mini and current 10" iPad and has an A series chip. 2. iPad Air 11" & 13" (I'm rounding up). Previous gen M series processor. 3. iPad Pro 13" only. Latest M series chip and all the bells and whistles. And for a cheaper option, maybe the previous year's base iPad and 11" Air would stick around. So you've got 4 total iPads plus cellular/wifi and a couple of storage options each. Done. Have Tim Apple call me.

But where that fails, a Kindle does a really great job. An iPad is a subpar reading experience because of backlight, lack of e-ink, and all the clutter and distractions that all the other apps have. It's standalone, sure, but everyone also has a phone that can be used to send books to their kindle.
